Sam and I were fortunate enough to be able to go on a mini getaway at his cousin's beachside condo in Lincoln City, OR. We had the most amazing time and could never thank his cousin enough for such a generous romantic getaway!
We arrived at the condo Monday afternoon. The weather was gorgeous, and we considered a stroll along the beach, but after the drive and multiple stops along the way, we decided all we wanted to do was relax. So we settled in for an evening of Christmas movies, music, dinner, and gorgeous sunset views from the comfort of the balcony.
Tuesday morning we woke up to unrelenting rain. We decided it was the perfect day to visit the outlets and other shops in Lincoln City and surrounding areas. We definitely had a FULL day of shopping, wrapping up last minute stocking stuffers, dice game gifts, and a few treats for ourselves as well. We stopped in for lunch at Pelican Brewing and enjoyed yummy food while watching the rain beat down on the dock.
Wednesday morning we woke up to beautiful clear skies. Today was the day to get our butts to the beach! We spent much of our morning and afternoon exploring Cape Kiwanda. It was chilly, but the views were breathtaking. I could have stayed there forever. I deeply love the beach. Cape Meares Beach in particular. We use to take a beach trip every summer, but circumstances have made it so we haven't been able to go the past few years. Being able to get to the beach, despite it being a different one than I'm use to, with my lover, made my whole year. I'm truly grateful. We will most definitely go again....and bring the kids. They'll love it here.
Lucky for us, there was another Pelican Brewing restaurant right on the beach at Cape Kiwanda. After a few hours hiking around, we sat down to beachside views and ate literally the most delicious clam chowder I have EVER eaten in my life. I'm kicking myself for not ordering multiple bowls to-go! Definitely the perfect ending to our beach hike.
After making it back to the condo and resting for a while, we took the opportunity of continued beautiful weather to head out and walk around Siletz Bay, the little bay the condo is situated on. I knew we were a little too early for sunset, but I wanted to get a lay of the land prior.
YES! It got better! That dock we kept finding ourselves at for photos was all lit up after dark and transformed a beautiful evening into a magical one. I could not get over how gorgeous the dock was with all it's lights. I loved the reflection of those lights in the little water pools on the beach. For the second time that day, I didn't want to leave. The moment was perfection.
With love,
Mama Hauck
