Oregon Coast Beach Trip 2020

This year, with Covid going on and everything in general being cancelled, I was worried we were going to have to cancel our coast trip as well, but luckily we were still able to go.

It was different though. There was no huge gathering for a crab boil at our friend's beach house. No Garibaldi Days. No vendor booths. No parade. No fireworks.

But that's ok. Sometimes things are just different and you have to roll with the punches.

While it was unfortunate that Garibaldi Days was cancelled and our friends decided to cancel their huge family crab boil, we were over the moon and honored they still wanted us to come join them for a quiet weekend at their beach home.

Like last year, we stayed in a hotel for 3 nights. We practiced social distancing, wore our masks in stores, and washed our hands frequently. Good to go.

We arrived Thursday evening, and after getting checked into our hotel, headed up to the beach house for some hot dogs, freshly caught crab, and time around the fire.

Friday was our beach day. The day I wait all year for. We headed out to my favorite beach in the whole world, Cape Meares Beach, and spent a good 5 hours there. Usually we don't get to spend that much time at the beach, but this go-around, with not much going on due to Garibaldi Days being canceled, we decided we were committed to spending a good chunk of time at the beach. Definitely no complaints on my end! I love nothing more than to sit my butt in the sand and watch the waves roll in and my babies playing.

The weather was only about 65-70* and overcast, but boy was it a gorgeous day out. There was hardly anyone else there, but we went ahead and walked down to the end of the beach anyway, to the tide pools. So not only did we get to play in some awesome tide pools during low tide, but we had the beach all to ourselves as well!

It truly was an amazing day. I felt so relaxed and at ease. I loved playing spending time with Sammy and playing with my babies in the sand and tide pools. I wish we could have more carefree days like that. It was so good for my soul.

Saturday we spent the day visiting all the little shops we love to visit. The kiddos did a really great job wearing their masks when needed and not complaining about it. They sure were troopers. I especially loved when we found a cute little coffee shop and were able to sit down and treat the kids to a soda and Sammy and I got a coffee/tea. The kids loved that little treat.

The rest of Saturday was spent just lounging at the beach house. The kids played corn hole, ran around, and just chilled. We did wind up doing a mini crab boil with the usual foods....crab, corn, potatoes, sausage, and Tim also made delicious ribs. It was nice to just sit around and enjoy some quiet down time with our friends.

Although this coast trip wasn't filled with all the usual fun that comes along with Garibaldi Days, we sure did enjoy our time.

I am very thankful we were still able to get to the beach and unwind. This trip was very much needed.

With love,
Mama Hauck
