Happy Easter!

Our morning has been filled with Easter baskets and little toys, hidden eggs and candy trails. We have guests coming over later on and a yummy meal planned. Then after it's dark, a glow in the dark egg hunt! :)

I hope everyone has a very lovely day!

I Love You Like That

I love you like.....that feeling you get....

When you know something is missing, but you don't know exactly what it is and you feel a bit lost and empty, but don't know how to fix it. Then from out of the blue you hear a faint whisper from your heart and you decide to listen. You are overcome with so much joy that your heart feels as if it swells and skips a beat and you know you will never again be able to live without what you've found.

I love you like that.

When you're swinging on a swing and you're getting higher and higher and the breeze is blowing your hair back. You get that butterfly feeling in your belly each time the swing falls back and although you know you could fall off and get hurt, you decide to just hold on as tight as you can and enjoy that feeling of falling.

I love you like that.

When you're laying out in the yard on a beautiful day and the sun is shining down on you warming your face, heart, and soul. You think to yourself that this is the most perfect moment you wish you could freeze in time and live in forever. You smile and take in every detail of that moment, hoping you won't forget it because you've never felt more at peace and more complete.

I love you like that.

When there's a new crispness in the air and the leaves are beginning to change and you're sitting on your front porch steps with a hot coffee between your hands, looking out on all that you love. You're wishing the warmer days would stick around a bit longer because you don't feel ready for the change you know is to come. Yet you're hopeful and excited thinking about the days, weeks, months, and years that have not yet happened.

I love you like that.

Meet Little Alex

Remember the maternity photos I did recently for my gal pal? You can see that post HERE. Well, she had her little boy just a few days after we wrapped up that shoot! Good thing we got those photos done!

This past Sunday I went and met little Alex. I had the pleasure of taking his newborn photos as well as some family photos. Oh my word, he is a CUTIE!! I brought Anthony with me to hang out and he kept going, "Awwwww! He's SO cute!!" and "Awww! Look at his little fingers and toes!" haha Seeing Alex so small and brand new made me really miss Timothy being that little. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

The shoot went really well! I wasn't nearly as nervous as I usually am going into a shoot and that felt great. I came with lots of props and a list of ideas to add to a few ideas Alex's Mama and Papa had. We set up right there in their living room, infront of a big 'ol window that was letting in some beautiful sunshine. They had their wood stove going to warm up the room and Alex already stripped, ready to go. Alex was a good little boy and for the most part cooperated. We had to hush him back to sleep a few times, but I didn't mind. :) And don't touch his teeny feet, he is sooo ticklish! It took us a long time to get a few feet shots because he kept squirming, haha. I was there for almost 3 hours and loved every minute!

Here's some photos from Alex's shoot. Let me know what you think, please. I haven't been getting much feedback recently. I'm really trying hard to gain more confidence in myself and am always trying to improve my work. Any input would be much appreciated.

Papa Snuggles

Anthony was an awesome snuggler when he was a baby. Sam use to sit with him on the couch every afternoon reading a book and Anthony would literally sit there forever just so content. I remember laying in bed with Anthony on my chest taking our leisurely naps and loving every second.

Molly was a decent snuggler, not as into it as Anthony was, but definitely much more so than Timothy. She was notorious for falling asleep on your chest. You'd sit there on the couch with your arms on fire from holding her up and bum falling asleep just because you couldn't bare to move and wake her.

Timothy isn't such a great snuggler. He was when he was itty bitty, but his desire to snuggle left shortly after turning a few months old. He just doesn't sit still for long unless he's eating or sleeping, or on his way to sleeping, haha. He has his moments, but all in all he just isn't very content snuggling with you on the couch doing nothing. Boo. It makes Sam sad he never gets to snuggle with Timothy.

Because of his poor snuggling ways, it's a big deal to capture a photo of Timothy snuggling with his Papa!

My Mess Maker

No matter what I do, I can not keep my little mess maker from, well, making messes! And that's just fine with me!

****

Anthony was the same way. Always into the shoes, kitchen cabinets, plant dirt!! I have this one photo of Anthony playing in my plant when he was 10 months old that I just LOVE. He made a mess, but his smile was more than enough to get him out of trouble! Every time I see it, it makes me smile.

I went and made a cute comparison photo for Sam today. I wish I had a photo of Molly eating plant dirt. I went and looked through all her photos (which took forever!), but I don't have any. I don't recall her ever getting into my plant dirt, so probably why I don't have a photo! Boo.

They may be 5 years a part, but they're both the same. Two peas in a pod. Love my naughty dirt eating boys! :)

Go On and Break It

This morning I was sitting in the car with Anthony waiting at the end of our drive for the neighbor to swing on by and pick him up to head to the bus stop. While we were waiting, Anth asked me to pull up the map on the navigation thing in the car. We looked at the map for a minute and then he began to tell me where our house was. I corrected him and pointed out where our house actually was and.....and then he got mad and stopped talking to me and pretty much ignored me the remainder of our wait.

Our neighbor finally pulled up and I told Anthony I loved him. He didn't say it back. He got out of the car, closed the door, and just like I always do, I blew him a kiss. He watched me without blowing a kiss back.

Wow.....Break. My. Heart.

When do children learn how to break their Mama's hearts?.....intentionally?

When he gets off the bus this afternoon, I'm going to give him a big 'ol bear hug and show him that even when he's angry with me and tries his best to hurt my feelings, this Mama will always have a heart so full of love for him. Even if it did take all day to put the pieces back together!
