Spring Family Photos

Here are a few of the photos we took on Easter! :)

Just an update......Tammy was able to come home from the hospital yesterday. She was incredibly worn out and in pain, but in good spirits. She's got a long recovery in front of her, so no horsey fun for her, she's bummed about that. We told her we'd give her horses a little attention whenever we go to see Nik.

Speaking of Nik, I ordered him a new halter, lead, and brush box for me. All in red. :) He looks so handsome with his new halter! And I love having a cute tote to carry all my brushes and stuff in. We went over yesterday to try out his new halter and ride for a bit. We also payed Tammy a visit to say hello.

We're getting SO CLOSE to having Nik over at our place!!!! Closer than I thought. :) We found a place where we are going to buy metal fence paneling. The heavy duty kind you can move wherever you want. On May 9th we are having the surveyor come to mark our property corners for us.....seeing as everyone around here doesn't know exactly where their property corners are. We can't do anything until we have that information. After that's done, our neighbor who owns the place behind us (but doesn't live there) is going to let us use the small barn at the edge of our property (and after the survey, we might find it's ours....who knows) as a temporary home for Nik until we eventually build our own bigger barn. We'll be able to do all our fencing then. It will be awesome to step out my front door and know Nik is here.....even if he's a long walk across my whole property, lol.

The kids and I are off to the library today and then back home for some outside play. I've also got to finish up some stuff concerning my photo shoot so I can stop stressing about it.

Easter

Easter morning started out a bit glum. It was raining out and our neighbor and good friend Leonard (where we keep our horse) came over to use Sam's phone and we could tell right away something was wrong. Saturday there was an accident with some big machinery (sorry, don't remember what it was called). His wife Tammy was out helping and got her leg caught and had a huge chunk of her calf cut and torn almost clean off......like her calf flap was just hanging down......and another deep gash in her thigh. It could have ended FAR worse had the machine not jammed up. Leonard rushed her to the hospital in town, where he was told they could do nothing for her (don't even get me started on that) so she was taken by ambulance to Portland. She's there recovering now and hopefully will be home soon. Please think happy thoughts for her! I can't imagine how scary that must have been.

Since it was raining, the Easter Bunny wasn't able to hide his eggs outside. He....or shall I say I......had to hide both the real and candy filled eggs in the house while the kids were busy eating a delicious breakfast Sam made. It was fun. :) Anthony could hardly contain himself when he finished eating and saw a few eggs hidden around the house. Once Molly was done with breakfast, it was go time. It took her all of 5 seconds to get the jist of what she was suppose to do. Both kids ran around the house all giddy finding their eggs. It was soooooo cute!

After the egg hunt we got down all the baskets and watched as they gleefully dug in. :) Anthony kept exclaiming, "Thank you Easter Bunny!" lol. They loved the balls and frisbees and of course, the candy. I always got outside toys for Easter when I was a kid, so I wanted to continue that tradition. I LOVED watching my babies be all excited, having a good time. Nothing makes me more happy than making my babies happy.

Easter egg hunt!
The kids' Easter Baskets
Opening up the baskets our friend Lori sent. :) The chalk, playdough, and bubbles were a hit! THANKS!
Opening up the baskets filled with goodies from the Easter Bunny!
Their chocolate bunnies and coloring books from Grandpa.

After baskets we prepped stuff for dinner and cleaned up the house. The rain eventually stopped and the sun came out so we jumped at the opportunity to take a few family photos like I had been hoping to do. After, the kids ran around playing with their new outside toys while I helped Sam fix something on his car. The day ended with a DELICIOUS dinner of broccoli, potatoes, steak, and jello with whipped cream. Leonard came back over for dinner because we didn't want him to be alone. It was awesome to have some company. We all had a few drinks and ate and then played "animal shoot" as Anthony likes to call it (Big Game Hunter on Wii, haha). Hope everyone had a nice Easter as well!

Open Your Mouth And Say

Ahhhhh!

I'm taking the kids to their 2nd dentist appointment later today (which is an hour and 15 minutes away, ugh). Their 1st one last September (or was it October??) went well. This one should go fine also.....beautiful, healthy teeth wise. Only difference is Sammy can't get off work early to accompany me, so I'm flying solo on this one. Nothing new, I always take the kids to their doctor and other appointments by myself. I'm a pro at carrying a toddler on one hip, a diaper bag on one shoulder, and marching a preschooler beside me. As well as giving the perfected and well known "Don't you dare think of touching that, sit down in your seat and be a good kiddo" Mama glare look.

But, you know, the dentist can be.......scary. In a child's eyes that is.

Shooting for no tears and total cooperation today! Yeah! lol

Egg Coloring!!!!!

After the library yesterday the kids and I headed to the store to buy our eggs and egg coloring. On the drive home I developed a horrible migraine that lasted all afternoon and into the early evening. :( SUCK. My life is plagued with them. Ugh. Luckily I recovered in time to have a super duper grand time coloring eggs!

I think Anthony and Molly were about to crap their pants from all the excitement, hahahaha! They both sat ever so impatiently waiting at the kitchen table. Who wouldn't be all giddy at the thought of playing with eggs and different colored vinegars?

Sweet little Mols was all smiles and thought it was the coolest thing. EVER. She absolutely melts my heart.

We told Anthony we were coloring the eggs so the Easter Bunny could hide them Easter morning then we would all go find them. All he talks about now is how the Easter Bunny is going to come and he made pretty eggs for him. :)

Definitely reminds me of being a kid and I feel ever so thankful I grew up knowing such simple pleasures. I'm glad I can bring that kind of joy to my babies lives and watch them experience it all.

Doesn't it just make you want to go buy some eggs and dye just for the hell of it?

Egg coloring, check. Next up, plastic egg candy fillers. :)

Book Worms

I love my little book worms. Looking at pictures of alligators, bumblebees, whales, and bugs. Learning how lions eat zebras and snakes slither. Haha They love this stuff. :)

I'm Not Prepared.

I feel like I've dropped the ball this year. We don't have Easter egg dye or stuffs to fill the Easter eggs for the kids' egg hunt. I have no idea what we're having for dinner or doing during the day. Usually I have all the goods and all the plans worked out a month in advance! I'm running out of time now, so I'm thinking simple day of baskets, egg hunt, outside play? And for dinner smoke a ham? Jello, green beans, pasta salad? Our friends we had wanted to invite over for the day aren't able to come. So looks like it will just be a Hauck thing this year!

I do have the baskets out and the kids have a chocolate bunny (they get one every year) in theirs along with some jelly beans. We got them each a ball for outside play (Anthony's blue, Molly's pink) and a matching frisbee that the Easter Bunny will deliver Sunday morning. We also got Anthony a little bat and ball set and the two of them a kid's memory match game the Easter Bunny will also have waiting for them. :) I'll probably wind up eating Molly's bunny. lol

I remember Easter when I was a kid. I loved it. I remember helping my dad string plastic eggs out on our front bushes for decoration. We'd do the egg dye thing earlier in the week and those would be hidden in the house Easter morning for my siblings and I to find. The plastic goody filled eggs were scattered, hidden in the yard by my mom and dad while we patiently waited inside fighting the urge to peek out the window to see where they were being hid. Then there were the baskets. Mine was yellow and handmade by myself (with help, of course!) while I was in 4H. We'd get candy and goodies and it was freaken awesome.

I hope my children grow up loving Easter like I did.

I better get my butt in gear and go get some egg coloring!!

Molly's Baby

A funny thing happened the other day. Molly decided she wanted to be a Mama. :)

HAHAHA

But really.....I got her a baby doll round abouts her birthday almost a year ago and she never touched the thing till this past Friday. All of a sudden she has this cute fascination with her baby doll. She carries it EVERYWHERE. To the car, to the store, to the table for lunch, to the bathroom, to the couch for cartoons and a nap, to bed at night time, to Mama and Papa's room in the middle of the night trying to sneak into our bed, etc. etc. You get the idea. :) Molly will just sit there with it on her lap and stare at it patting it's head and poking it's toes. One time I looked about to see where she was and found her snuggled on her bed with the baby doll barricaded in with a bunch of pillows and blankets. I gave her a bib and a pacifier for her baby and she just giggled with delight and made it breakfast. She pulled out a diaper and had me put a diaper on it and freaken laughed and laughed the whole dang time. I rocked her baby doll while singing "rock a by baby" and Molly got the biggest grin on her face.

Seriously, it is THE CUTEST THING EVER to watch this child love on her baby. And it's kinda fun playing baby with your baby. :)

Nik

The weather is getting nicer and I'm getting horse fever. Yesterday we headed over to see Nik again. This time I brought my camera and instructed Sam to play photographer. So the photos you see are his.....pretty good, eh? I wish we were set up to have him over at my place already. I can't wait. It's fun working with him and getting to know his personality more. Nik is a very responsive, yet spunky guy. Not to mention handsome. :)

Overall the weekend was a good one. I'm currently sick and have been since Friday, sucks, but I've got my dayquil and tissues so I'm doing ok. Molly still has a bit of a snot nose, but other than that she's back to her chipper self. Anthony got a much needed haircut from his Papa. Now his mohawk looks freaken awesome. Saturday we went to the home and garden show being held at the fairgrounds in our town. It was a definite let down. :( I think it was hyped up too much on the radio. I was expecting far more than the 20 or so booths they had there. Maybe it was better on Sunday? I did get two cute metal birds, one blue and one yellow, to put on Molly's shelves as decoration. We also went grocery shopping and picked up a few things at Home Depot to do a couple projects. I'll post some photos soon. At least the sun was out and the weather was decent. I'm hoping it holds up this week and into the weekend because I have that photo shoot next Saturday!
