Cherry Orchard Trail

Anthony headed back to CWU today. The Spring quarter starts today, but he doesn't have an in-person class until tomorrow afternoon, so he was able to stay home a little longer, which was awesome!

Doing so allowed him to join Sammy, Timothy, and I on a hike yesterday! We chose to do to the Lyle Cherry Orchard Trail, just down the Gorge a ways on the WA side past Lyle.

We have done a part of this trail multiple times before, and while we didn't do the complete trail this time either, we sure did do substantially more than we have in the past. It has a lot of steep incline parts, but we got through that and made it to the top meadow plateau. We chose to turn back after hanging out at the plateau instead of continuing on due to lack of snacks and water. In truth, we didn't actually know how long the trail actaully was, lol, so we weren't as prepared as we needed to be in order to forge ahead. But we will eventually do the whole thing.

I was excited to see the balsam root flowers out! No lupine yet. In between feeling like my quads were going to catch fire and my lungs burst, I sure did enjoy the views!

We will definitely revisit this hike again, and hope to complete the whole thing next time...with snacks and more water!

Fake Easter

My 20th wedding anniversary falls on Easter this year. Sammy and I will be gone on a trip to Lopez Island, so this year we decided to just pick a day we knew Anthony would be home so we could have our "Fake Easter."

Friday at like 9pm, lol, we finally got around to dying eggs. I got everything set up in the living room, we jammed to music, dyed our eggs, and had a jolly good time.

Saturday morning the kids did their Easter baskets and egg hunt. Baskets this year consisted mostly of needed clothing items and snacks.

The egg hunt was especially fun. With the kids being older, Sam and I have to fid harder hiding spots for the eggs. I don't care how old they get, I will never get tired watching them run around looking for easter eggs, haha.

We did have the grandparents, as well as my friend Kristen and her boys over for dinner and hang time, but I didn't take any photos. I also didn't get a photo of the kids in their bunny ears like I do every year. Darn it. So I've kept the bunny ears out and hope to get a photo next month.

It was a mellow Fake Easter, and I loved it.
