Advent Days 1-5

Time for some advent fun! Every year I hang up the mitten advent calendar and agonize over planning what we should do each day as we lead up to Christmas, lol. It's both more fun and harder as the kids get older. Everyone is so busy with their extracurricular activities and such. Some days there's just no time to do anything at all other than exist. Still, I love doing it.

Day 1 - Decorate the house and tree.

Decorating is always day 1! During the day I get everything layed out on the kitchen table so when the kiddos get home from school and Papa gets home from work, we can blast some Christmas music and get right to decorating!

Day 2 - Go to Sunshine Mill Winery for a drive in movie!

We like to do this every year. This year we chose our favorite Christmas movie, "Love Actually" to go and see, which was the first movie of the month, and wouldn't you believe it, we were one of only three cars there! Timothy also had a friend tag along, so that was a little bit of added fun for him.

Day 3 - Take our yearly Christmas sweater photos.

This might not be the kids' favorite activity we do during December, but I know they will look back on our yearly Christmas sweater photos when they are older and laugh. It's one of my favorite activities though!

Day 4 - Night sledding!

We are lucky enough to have amazing neighbors who allow us to come sled on their hill whenever the conditions are right.  Anthony and Molly decided to skip out on this one, which definitely made me sad, but it was fun for Timothy to have some Mama and Papa time to himself. We had a great time sledding and it was so fun to have that special time with him.

Day 5 - Play the punch game.

This year I watched a video with this idea and loved it, so I had to make one myself! I took a bunch of solo cups, filled them with little treats, hot glued tissue paper over them, then hot glued the cups to a board. The kids took turns punching a cup to see what the treat was inside. They each got to punch four times.  This new game was definitely a hit and will be a keeper for the years to come.

More advent fun coming up!

With love,
Mama Hauck
