Casino Cruise

This past Friday, Sammy and I got to enjoy an all expenses paid casino cruise and dinner date with his co-workers, past and present. This was in celebration of an amazing 15 year safety milestone for Siemens and NAES Corporation.

Isn't that an amazing gift and celebration for 15 years of safety? We had a great time!

Admittedly, I was anxious. I hadn't been around any of his co-workers since pre-cancer. I looked different. I felt different. I acted different. I didn't know a lot of them anymore. And all the wives would be there too. A large part of me didn't want to go. But I knew this was important, and I know I have to continue to do things outside of my comfort zone...or risk becoming a hermit.

Ultimately, despite some nerves here and there, I enjoyed myself and had a great time. We drove to the Tri-Cities area and loaded the casino cruise boat at 3pm. Then we spent 2 hours cruising up and back down a stretch of the Columbia River, while everyone had a good time playing the casino games that were offered. My favorite was just basking in the sun on the back of the boat!

At 5pm we disembarked and checked into our hotel room. We got cleaned up and then headed to dinner at 6pm. We exchanged our chip winnings for raffle tickets, and then hoped to win one of the raffles! We didn't, lol, but it was fun to watch others win. There were speeches made by many people, and it was really nice to feel the comradery in the room.

The dinner was delicious. Prime rib, orange chicken, salad, baby broccoli, mashed potatoes, and the most delicious chocolate torte I have ever eaten. Sammy and I ate, chatted, then spent some time on the balcony taking in the evening.

We didn't stay at the dinner very late. By 8:30 we were back in our super luxurious hotel room for a soak in the huge soaker tub and lounging by the fire.

Saturday morning we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, then packed up and spent a few hours at the local mall. On the way home, we got a flat. Annoying. Thankfully, we had a spare, and we were pretty close to Sam's work when it happened. So we made a little detour and headed to his work for a hole patch. Nice how that worked out, lol.

With love,
Mama Hauck
