CA Anniversary Getaway Day 3

Sunday was our last full day. We slept in, had the in house breakfast, then got ready for a full day in Monterey!

First up on the day's to-do list, a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We have been here multiple times with the kids, and it never disappoints. But being here by ourselves this time means we can lallygag and take our time. We're not being pulled in all directions. Which was nice, because I LOVE the jellyfish exhibit. It has always been my favorite, and I could spend forever there. The aquarium was SO busy. But I get it. We enjoyed it regardless. We took our time, saw the sights, ate a treat, then continued on.

After the aquarium, we walked the shops on Cannery Row and then made our way to Old Fisherman's Wharf. We walked those shops, got some clam chowder at one of the many seafood restaurants (the same one we've taken the kids to before!), and took in the sights. It was super windy, but at least the sun was shining. The weather had called for rain, and I'm very thankful that never happened!

I definitely wanted to make sure we got to the beach. We drove out to Fort Ord Dunes State Park, also a place we've taken the kids before, for some toes in the sand relaxation. Its a particularly beautiful beach because the sand dunes are all covered with ice plant, which is invasive, but beautiful none the less.

We rested and regrouped for a bit back at the Inn, then decided we had just enough time in the day to take the scenic 17-Mile Drive through Pebble Beach, CA. This is a 17 mile long drive through an extremely wealthy area. The houses are insane. Truly. But we don't focus on the multi-million dollar houses (much, lol). We focus on the scenery. We stopped multiple times at various pull offs to walk the various beaches. We took in the views, collected beach goodies, and wondered what it would be like to live in such opulence.

Wrapping up our day, we found an Ike's Love and Sandwich shop for dinner. Amazing.

Monday morning we got packed up and hit the road back to San Fran to catch our flight back home. It was an amazing trip that I am very thankful we were able to do.

With love,
Mama Hauck
