First Snow of the Season

We got our first snow of the season this morning! The weather has been unseasonably warm and rainy for a while now. The goats and chickens are over all this rain. And I am too. I'm really tired of everything being wet and yucky, chores being made harder, and the dogs tracking in muck every time they go out and come back in. Waking up to it snowing this morning was a nice change.

Molly and Timothy had already left for school, much to their dismay. They thought the little bit of snow warranted a snow day, lol. I was so excited to wake Anthony up and tell him it had snowed! Just because, you know, it will never not be fun to do that.

It didn't wind up being a ton, a few inches at best, and its already started to melt, but oh well. It was pretty to see, and fun to play in with the dogs and goats. I don't think there is snow in our foreseeable forecast, so I'm glad I got out to enjoy it. We are all wondering what this winter will look like. If maybe it'll be one of those years where real snow doesn't show up till late January, and in to February. Guess we will see.

Farmers Market Holiday Bazaar 2025

This year's Farmers Market Holiday Bazaar this past Saturday went well. Molly and her friend Jaydee came to help out, and that was fun to watch them help make sales. I was excited to utilize and show off my new soap display stands Sam built for me. I think it helped to streamline my table and make products easier to see and choose from. I was really happy with how my display turned out this year, and I got a lot of great feedback.

Over the past year or two, I've talked about how there are new soap making people in town, so it's not just me anymore. I've had to get used to now sharing my little corner of the soap market. Last year there was a soap person put right across from me at the market and they mean mugged me the whole time, which I did not enjoy. This year, we were more spread out, per my feedback, lol.

Sales have gone down overall, but I do have a handful of loyal repeat customers, of which I am incredibly thankful for. And Sam's co-workers always buy soap as well, when he takes my remaining stock to work after the bazaar. So while I didn't make as much as last year, which I expected to happen, it is what it is, and I am grateful for the people who continue to show up for me and support me.

As long as soap making still feels fun for me, and feels worth it in the end, I will continue. And if ever a time comes that I am not taking any joy out of it anymore, then I will just soap for myself, and for people who ask me to. It's a lot of work to do the bazaar, and I really want my energy to be going towards something fruitful that I enjoy.

Another bazaar in the books! I am ready to rest now.

Home for the Holidays

Anthony came home for his 3 week long Christmas break this past Friday afternoon and I am SO excited!! I don't think there is anything better than your big kid coming home from college, and knowing it's not just for a day or the weekend, but 3 whole weeks!

He wasted no time settling back in. Rummaging through the fridge and pantry for food. Setting up his computer area and gaming, giving me all his dirty bedding and laundry to wash, and making messes lol. I loved it.

We don't have any big or special plans made for over Christmas break, but I think that's ok. I think what everyone needs is to just be. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming weeks, and just existing together.
