Anthony's Dorm Move-Out Day

Yesterday Sammy, Gpa, and I hit the road early in the morning to head to Ellensburg. Anthony had a dorm room check out scheduled for noon, but we wanted to get there earlier so we could catch the end of his Stage II Flight check flight (where he is graded on his Stage II flight knowledge). I was worried we weren't going to make it, but we managed to get there just in time to watch him land and taxi over. It was so fun to see him disembark his plane and walk over to us!

He passed his Stage II, fyi! On to Stage III! Obviously, he will be working on his Stage III into summer. He hopes to complete his Stage III check flight and receive his Private Pilot's certificate/license by the middle to end of July. This would still leave him 6-8 weeks of summer break to enjoy before heading back the middle of September. Fingers crossed that everything aligns for him to achieve this goal.

Even though he is continuing on with the program into summer, everyone still has to move out of their dorms. Some students in the pilot's program moved into temporary dorm housing until they have completed this year's flight program, and others, like Anthony, who don't live too terribly far, can leave campus. We made arrangements with my cousin who lives in Leavenworth to have Anthony spend some time at his place during the week when he has his flights. It's only an hour from Ellensburg, whereas we are two hours. And hopefully Anthony will still manage to come home on the weekends for some down time.

Anyway, after Anthony's flight, we headed to his dorm and helped him to finish packing up all of his belongings and move out. He had already packed up and brought home a fair amount, but there was still a lot of work to do. His room mate, Casey, and his family were also there getting Casey's items packed up. It was nice to see Casey and his family again. The boys wound up being a great match for room mates and I am very thankful for that.

After getting everything loaded up in the car and the check-out move list completed and signed, we took one last stroll around the dorm and then said goodbye!

Onwards and upwards! Wendell Hill Hall B was a great dorm, but Anthony is very excited to be moving into an on campus apartment with his best friend Owen. We are excited for the boys for this next academic year, but certainly looking forward for some much needed downtime this summer. I know Anthony is looking forward to completing his Stage III here shortly and ending his first academic year at CWU on a high!

With love,
Mama Hauck
