Timothy Lake Camping June 19th-22nd

We just got back from our first camping trip of the season! Being able to get our favorite spot at our favorite lake made me one happy Mama! Our friends joining us for this camping adventure made me even happier!

It was suppose to be 80* and sunny the entire time, but the weatherman lied. It was gorgeous when we showed up Friday. Saturday it got to maybe 65 and rained off and on all day. It seriously poured at one point!! Sunday there was no rain and the sun did came out, but it only got to about 70*. And, of course, it was gorgeous when we left Monday, haha! I definitely did not pack enough pants and sweatshirts for anyone. Despite the wonky weather, we made the best of it and had a great time. You never know what you're going to get camping in June.

The kids spent hours kayaking and fishing. Anthony and Aydrin even caught fish! Anthony was so excited to finally catch one after trying all weekend! The boys even cleaned, filleted, and cooked their fish. They were pretty tasty! Even though the weather was less than ideal half the time, there was still a fair amount of swimming. There was also parkouring on the logs, tree climbing, snacking (lots and lots of snacking!!), joke-telling, walking, hop-scotching, and much relaxing around the fire. I pretty much lived by the fire. It's nice having the kids be older, they're able to go off and be safe together as a group while us adults can remain at camp, with a watchful ear on things, to relax and chat together.

It's always hard to say goodbye to Timothy Lake, but saying bye is made a bit easier with a trip to our favorite cookie and ice cream place on the way home!

I love being able to camp in June right after the kiddos get out of school. Camping is a super fun way to kick off summer! Even though this past school year has been an odd one, and the kiddos have been homeschooling since March due to covid so they didn't get that fun "last day of school, first day of summer" feeling, we still had our usual deep sigh as Mt. Hood came into view.

More camping to come! We've got a camping trip to Lost Lake planned for next month, a trip back to Timothy Lake in August, and two more camping trips to Timothy Lake in September.

Walsh Visit

We were fortunate enough to receive a visit from Sam's friend Nick and his family from California. Sam and Nick met while in the Navy together and have remained friends since. They stayed with us for two nights and we had a great time with them. Their children are about the same age as ours, so they got along well. We mostly hung out at home, relaxing, snacking, bike riding, playing kickball, etc. The kids loved jumping on the trampoline and working on a new bike jump by their bike course. Sammy and I enjoyed showing off the garden and catching up with them about life. We did get out of the house and take everyone on a hike down the road from us. Despite it being warm out, the kids all complaining about being hot and tired, and everyone getting a bit of a sun burn, it was a good time. Haha

We enjoyed our time with them and look forward to visits in the future.

Thanks for the visit, Walsh family!

Hammock Fun

I've been doing fairly well selling my paintings and soap in my booth at The Bargain Boutique here in town. It was nice to acquire a little bit of fun money. Since the kiddos love laying in my hammock, and I don't want to share it, lol, I thought it a grand idea to take that little bit of fun money and build a little hammock area for the kiddos!

We scored some hammocks at Grocery Outlet and the rest of the materials at The Home Depot and got to work. Sammy worked hard to dig holes deep enough to cement the wood poles in the ground for each hammock. We used a tree as a pole as well. The spot was perfect for the hammocks. The trees will offer shade during most of the day so the kiddos can use them anytime they want.

I was sooooo excited to get the area finished! I think they turned out great! The kiddos were quite pleased as well! The area we chose couldn't have been more perfect. I love being able to sit on the front porch and watch the kiddos play in their hammocks (and not in mine!!). Timothy has already taken a pillow and blanket out to his hammock, hahaha. Hopefully they will get lots of use during the years to come. And when they wear out, we'll just buy new hammocks!

Definitely a fun addition to our yard and worth every penny!!

Enjoy the hammocks, hunny bunnies!
