Anniversary Hike

Being as Washington is under a stay at home order.....and everything is closed....including trail heads (ugh!!), we were unsure of what we would do on our anniversary this year. Normally we like to load up and head out for a day hike and maybe stay overnight at a hotel. Or,  like in some years, we've gotten out of the area completely for a few days stay someplace. However, we all know this year is different.

We decided on a hike down our road to explore Rock Creek a bit. Sam had done the trek a few times on his running route, but I'd never gone. So what better day to go? To fuel us up, Anthony was so kind as to make us breakfast!

It was a bit chilly and windy, but we really enjoyed our time. We made a complete circle....heading to the Rock Creek view point, up across some fields, down the tree line in the opposite direction, down a dirt road a 1/2 mile from our house, and finally back towards home on our own familiar dirt road.

It was really great to do this hike with Sam. He's been working every day, weekends as well, so we haven't seen him much. We sure are thankful for the continued paycheck in a time when others have been put out of work. But that doesn't keep me from wishing he could be home with us more instead of at work.

It was nice to get out of the house with him. We look forward to taking the kids on this hike as well! I think they'd enjoy it.

So thankful to have this beauty in our own backyard!

With love,
Mama Hauck
