Timothy Lake Camping Sept 28th - Sept 30th

We took our last camping trip of the year this past weekend! It was also closing weekend for camping at Timothy Lake, so it wasn't busy at all, only about half full. It was super fun knowing it was the last weekend for camping. There were signs up all over the place saying you had to be out by noon time Sunday as that's when the gates were to be locked! Anthony came with us to wrap up the camping season.

It was a far more mellow camping trip with Anthony than with Timothy, haha. While Timothy had us on the go-go-go, doing this and that, Anthony was good with a lot of relax time. Yay!

Day 1! Since Anthony was on a special "Outdoor School" multi-day field trip with his grade, we had to wait until the end of the day to pick him up, we couldn't get him early. By the time we got to camp and all set up, evening was upon us. We did a quick trek to the logs to play for a bit, the boys took a dip in the lake to get cleaned up, we ate dinner, then we sat around the fire until bed time. See!? Nice and relaxing!

Day 2! After sleeping in (which was heavenly!), eating breakfast, and Anthony kayaking, we decided on a bit of a hike.

We drove up to Little Crater Lake as our starting point. The fall colors were just beautiful! Definitely my favorite time of year!! We hopped on part of the Pacific Crest Trail, making sure to sign a passer-thru book someone left, before veering off onto Timothy Lake Trail.  We took in the colors, stopped to each lunch, played down by a creek, and delighted in the views we found due to the current low level of the lake.

We hiked a good couple of miles until we reached a camp ground that was already closed down for the season. It was so eerie to be the only ones there. I joked to Anthony about this being a good scenario for a horror movie, hahaha! But really....half the time I'm hiking in any woodsy situation, I'm thinking about how not to die from a bear attack. *sigh* Soooo really I was just trying to add some comic relief to our hiking trip. After a nice rest, we turned back and hiked out, stopping at the very end to take a few photos of at Little Crater Lake! It was a very enjoyable hike! (except the whole "I hope I don't get eaten by wildlife" part)

That night we did a whole lot of relaxing after our hike. We ate dinner, listened to music, roasted mallows, kept warm by the fire....

Between Anthony's couple days of Outdoor School and then our camping hike, he was pooped out. He went to bed and Sam and I stayed up to play a few intense rounds of UNO (of which I won most of them), lol. A good ending to a good day!

There you have it! The last camping trip of the season! I'm so excited we got to camp so many times this year. We sure are looking forward to next year!

With love,
Mama Hauck
