Easter Fun

Coloring eggs is always a fun and special occasion in our home. I think back to when I colored eggs as a child, it's just one of those memories that stand out for me. I hope our children enjoy it just as much as I did. So exciting! The smell of vinegar, watching the color tablets dissolve, deciding which color you're going to use first, trying to get that perfect shade of blue, inevitably cracking an egg, fighting over the last remaining eggs. Haha, yes, I can say not much has changed between when I was a kid and now, having children of my own.

Look at those beautiful eggs!

Every year I do an Easter Bunny trail from the kids' bedroom to their Easter baskets. I love it! In previous years I've used jelly beans. This year, since we are cutting back on excessive sweets, I used Annie's Bunny Crackers. How fitting!

The kids each received 2 books, some new shirts, a bag of bunny crackers, and bubbles. Molly's special gifts were nail polish, a hair bow, a necklace, and an Anna dress for her American Girl Doll. Timothy's special gifts were a light up laser gun, and a wooden airplane with his name burned into it. Anthony's special gifts were a clip on light that he can clip onto books so he can read in bed at night, and a wooden airplane with his name burned into it. They also received cards and Easter money from family. Lucky kiddos!

When Timothy woke up Easter morning and saw the crackers on the floor, the look on his face was just priceless! "Hey! Bunny cracker mess!" he exclaimed with a sour pout on his face. LOL!! I'm sure he thought he was going to be blamed for it, so he was very adamant about pointing it out to me and making sure I knew he found it like that, hahaha. Molly came out next, and then Anthony. Follow the trail, little bunnies!

The hunt is on! Our Easter eggs were filled with money (a few dollars and lots of change!) for their piggy banks, and broken up pieces of the most ridiculously yummy organic salted chocolate bar I've ever tasted. Anthony and Molly really rocked the egg hunt, but Timothy was left in the dust a bit. We had to rein the older two in so Timothy would have a few eggs left to find. Next year, I'm thinking a 1 minute head start for Tim, lol.

After baskets, our egg hunt, and breakfast, we all got our butts outside. Sam and I got some projects done for the upcoming farmers market, the kids played, and then Sam and the kiddos helped move and even out a large dirt pile we had in our yard. Great job, guys!

Movie time! We rented Into The Woods on pay-per-view and popped a bag of popcorn to enjoy while watching it. If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend you do. It's a musical and we all enjoyed it very much. There were a few times where Molly covered her face, but all in all I thought it was pretty kid friendly.

Our Easter dinner was a simple, yet delicious one. We had ham, chive and cheese mashed potatoes, and green beans. Thanks for the delicious dinner, Sammy.

What a wonderful Easter we had! Love my little Hunny Bunnies!

Happy Anniversary, Lover.

Tomorrow Sam and I will be married for 9 years.

The me that existed before being married and having children would tell you that 9 years is a long time. An eternity! Holy crap 9 years is forever. What a silly past me.

The me that exists now, after marrying my lover, birthing our 3 children, and growing up in general, knows without a doubt that 9 years is just a blink of an eye. A blip in time passing by far too quickly than we could have ever imagined or hoped it would.

9 years. 9 long, yet short years. Enough time to have turned the life that we knew and once lived completely upside down. Enough time to have highs and lows. Trials and tribulations, and times of pure joy and jubilation. How infinitely different we are now compared to ourselves of yesteryear. Yet not everything changes.....

I'm still in love with him, and he's still in love with me.

This is the very first time our anniversary has fallen on Easter. Super cool...except I don't want two special days rolled into one! Oh no, I want them as they should be, two entirely separate occasions. So we decided we would go out and celebrate our anniversary today and Easter could be all about Easter.

I don't know where we will go or what we will do, but that matters very little to me. Just as long as we take a break just for ourselves, and maybe hear our song at least one time, I'll be happy.

Happy Anniversary, Lover.

Love Your Local Library: Lego Build

Last Saturday the Goldendale Community Library was holding a Lego build for kiddos of all ages in our community. We dig Legos. Especially Anthony. Of course we had to go!

How awesome is it that our library puts on cool things like this? I love our town! I'm excited for summer....every Friday there is a new activity or event held at the library, like the reptile man or a juggler. We've had great fun at these summer events in the past and look forward to the upcoming fun to be had!

We were the first to show up to the Lego build and the kids wasted no time diving right it. There was even a section with Duplo Legos and a couple Mr. Potato Heads for the little ones to play with. Timothy had a blast building with his Papa.

Anthony and Molly were happy to see some of our friends show up. Super fun!! I really enjoyed watching all the kids use their imagination and build. I helped Molly make a horse corral, and Anthony made a semi truck. When the kids were done building, we had a photo of their creation taken and wrote their name and title of their creation down on a piece of paper. The photos of their creation would be displayed in the library for a week. The kids thought that was awesome.

At the very end of the Lego build, the kids all won a prize. They anxiously, but ever so patiently, waited for their ticket number to be called so they could go to the prize table and pick out a prize. Molly picked out a Lego poster. Timothy picked out a Lego magazine. Anthony picked out a cut-out Lego diagram that you could build.

On Tuesday I loaded all the kids up and took them to the library. Every week, for the past 2 months now, I take Timothy to the library and he and I play and pick out new books and movies, for him as well as Anth and Mols. I have found that doing this not only gives Timothy and I a chance to get out of the house and have some bonding fun, but having a constant flow of new and exciting books in the house has gotten Anthony and Molly over the hump of "Reading is dumb and boring and I'll only do it because you're making me." and into the era of "This book looks awesome, I'm excited to read it and will do so willingly." Evidence of their new found love and appreciation of books can be seen in their most recent parent-teacher conferences and report cards. 3 and 4's. BAM! The power of reading. And hard work. And great teachers. And effort on the part of their Mama and Papa.

This week, since the kids are on Spring Break, they all got to come! Wow.....who knew they could have so much fun at a library!? They each picked out 5 books and 3 movies, then spent the remainder of the time playing with the games and toys in the kid section.

And then....they got a glimpse of the Lego build wall! Ohhh how they beamed with pride! I love it.
