Hiking the Cherry Orchard Trail

We discovered a new hiking trail the other day, and it's awesome!! It might actually be my new favorite! It's the Cherry Orchard Trail just a little ways from Lyle, WA. Molly wasn't with us because she was at a friends house, so it was just the boys and I.....and we brought Daisy!

It is a bit of a climb for the first leg of the hike. Timothy complained a few times of his legs hurting,
but overall he did great. I think kids 7 and up would be fine on this hike, but any younger and you'll probably be carrying them due to tired legs at times, haha. We just took frequent breaks in the shade to catch our breath and munch on a snack. The views of the Columbia River are worth the climb!

Once you've done the initial climbing part, it levels out into this gorgeous open field of tall grass and blue sky. That was my favorite part of the hike.

We didn't do the complete hike. That required exiting the field and starting another climb up. Sam and I would like to go back ourselves so we can do the hike in it's entirety and see if it's something the kids could handle. But for the time being, we were content with following all the little trails that ran through various parts of the field and exploring where they led before winding our way back down to the car.

Definitely a hike to go on again and share with others! We got lucky as it was only 65* out and there was a breeze, so we didn't sweat our butts off. Next time we do this hike, we'll go more towards morning time when the temperatures are cooler as summer heats up!

With love,
Mama Hauck
