We took our first camping trip of the season this past weekend! We headed to our favorite place, Timothy Lake, with our friends the Myra's, and camped in spots #19 & #20. In the past we've usually done 2 nighter trips, but this summer all of our camping trips are 3 nighters, I like that that gives us two whole days of fun and relaxation instead of trying to cram everything into one full day.
We wasted no time getting camp set up after we arrived Thursday. The kids are always excited to take that first kayak ride. I'm usually most excited to get the fire going and to start eating camp food, haha.
You never know what kind of weather you are going to get camping in June. We've had years where it's been nice, and years where it's been too chilly to even think about swimming. This was a good year! We got into the 80's every day we camped and everyone was sure loving that. Most of the day Friday was spent down by the water. It felt so nice to relax and watch the kids swim, kayak, and fish all day long.
Saturday Sam and I really wanted to go on a hike. We were hoping to bring all the kids with us, but Molly was the only one who wanted to go! All the other kiddos stayed behind as they were determined to catch a fish for us to eat for dinner. We really enjoyed our hike. In fact, it was my favorite part of the camping weekend. I know Sam and I could have hiked all day, but in true kid fashion, legs get tired and bellies get hungry. We turned back before I felt ready to, but that's ok. Sam and I will have to go hiking by ourselves one time and just leave all the kids back at camp, lol sorry Molly!
We came back from our hike to news that Anthony and Aydrin had each caught a fish! After spending some time down by the water, I watched the boys fillet them, then the guys helped them cook the fish. Anthony was so proud of himself, it was awesome. His little fish tasted mighty delicious!
Sunday morning always comes way too fast. After packing up our camps, we took our traditional group photo and headed out for our favorite ice cream spot on the way home!
We have two more camping trips planned for this year. One in July at Lost Lake, and one in August back at Timothy Lake. We are excited!
