A Little Holiday Fun

December is in full swing! Christmas music has been playing, hot chocolate is keeping our bellies warm, cookies have been made and consumed, cards and gifts are being made and packaged, the advent mitten calendar keeps the kids on their toes....ohhhh yes, merriment all around! Haha!

First up, we had our Primary School's annual evening with Santa! Molly choose to go to a friend's house, and Anthony decided to hang out with Grandma Cathy, so this year, it was just Timothy! There were a few games, some crafts, a letter to Santa station, cookies and hot chocolate, and of course, photos with Santa. Timothy wasn't interested in a photo with Santa, and seeing as we were missing half our family, I didn't push it. Darn it, lol. I'm pretty certain Timothy enjoyed his evening out with just Mama and Papa, as evident from the smile on his face!

Not only do we get to decorate our tree at home, but we also get to decorate Grandma Cathy's tree at her house! We can even reach the top without a step ladder! lol!

Day 5....or maybe it was day 6....of the mitten advent calendar was to make a Christmas card for someone at school! The kids always make one for their bus driver, the office ladies, and for their teachers! Once we get school take care of, we move on to friends and family. I never tire of seeing their version of a Christmas tree....though sometimes they'll ask for help, and hopefully I don't mess it up!

While they've been busy making cards, I've been busy wrapping up soap! Some for gifts to teachers and friends, and a whole bunch more (like 40 bars!) that were purchased! Mostly from the people at Sammy's work! My whole stock of soap! My hand is cramping from writing out tags and wrapping up soap, trying to keep up with orders! The last order was filled today, and with that, I am officially out of sell-able soap! Good thing I have my own personal stash! I better get working on soap for Valentine's Day/Spring.

This past Saturday evening, as tradition calls for, we headed to The Glass Onion here in town for dinner and to watch Goldendale's annual winter parade! This is our 4th year doing this and we look forward to it once December hits! Clam chowder, roasted cauliflower, buttery shrimp, noodles, cesar salad, burger and fries.....and banana cream pie with vanilla ice cream! What's not to love? Definitely one of the more delicious Hauck traditions.

Sunday afternoon we headed to The Dalles to watch the new Grinch movie! While driving out, we stopped and chatted with our neighbors who were out on the road. When we said where we were going,  they were like, "Well dang! Now we're going too!" And so we all went! Ugly sweaters on, popcorn and drink in hand, I do believe the kids had a great time.  I don't think anything will ever beat the Jim Carrey version, but it's always fun to go to a movie theater, especially when you get to hear lots of little kid giggles.

This morning we all woke up to a little dusting of snow. No much....and it will all melt by day's end I'm sure....but still fun! Definitely helps to put you in the holiday mood. Daisy has enjoyed running around in it, and once we get a bit more, the kids will enjoy some snow play too! I'll have to keep checking the weather, I have no idea when more snow is in the forecast for us.

Ah, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Up next, holiday programs! Timothy tonight, Molly on Thursday, Anthony next week. Also, our annual Ownby Rd Christmas party, and hopefully....more snow! We'll see.

With love,
Mama Hauck
