Country Living: Stock Tank Pool!

Last year we got this huge stock tank from Sammy's work so that we could use it in the pasture for hay for the horses when they were free grazing. Well, free grazing didn't wind up working out for the horses because they ultimately never self regulated themselves. So we were left with this huge stock tank that had drain holes in it, rendering it useless.

What to do, what to do!?

We patched all the holes, cleaned it out, bought a filter and cover, and boom! Stock tank pool!

The first few days were great. The weather was pretty moderate, but the solar cover heated the water up a bit, so it was actually quiet pleasant. Everyone was excited about the new pool, and life was good.

Unfortunately, the pleasantness didn't last very long. It's all fun and games until the wasps and yellow jackets come out of the woodworks and remind us why we've never been able to have and enjoy a pool. UGH! I would spend the whole time the kiddos were swimming just walking around scooping out and killing them. It was NOT fun....for me or the kids. No one could relax and have a good time for fear of all the wasps and yellow jacket flying around and landing on the water and us! They start to make you paranoid! And then no one was wanting to get in the pool.

Sooooo.....Plan B.....splurge on a mesh sided canopy!

It is no understatement when I say this was a genius idea. Literally the best we've ever had. We've never been able to genuinely relax and have a great time with a pool.....until now. The canopy is a game changer! We have been having THE BEST TIME with our little stock pool. Last night we all got in it together for the first time, and it was magical. We talked, we lounged around, we told stories, we laughed. It was the most amazing afternoon.

The smiles on my babies faces says it all. I am so thankful and my heart feels so full! We feel so spoiled now with our very own covered pool! It might be a little country, lol, but we love it.

With love,
Mama Hauck
