Back to School 2022-2023!

This morning the kiddos headed back to school! EEKKK!

I can't say I was ready for summer to end. Nor were they. But you can't hold back the hands of time.

As per our back to school tradition, Papa made chocolate chip pancakes (AND waffles, per Tim's request, lol), as well as cheesy smokies and bacon.

We did pretty ok getting up early and getting everyone ready. It's a bit more complex with the kids being older now....they all want to take showers, so there goes all the hot water! Good thing we have two bathrooms, so at least teeth can get brushed in one when someone is still showering in the other. We'll for sure need to work on our bathroom morning routine.

This year, just like the past two, school lunch is free. That started during Covid. So the days of me packing lunches for everyone has come to an end. Makes me sad.....I didn't know it was my last time packing lunches when it was my last time packing lunches. I think that's how a lot of last times go. You just don't know. I love that school lunch is free though. It's helpful.

And here they are! Our annual back to school photos! It's so bittersweet watching them grow. Gosh, we just love them so dang much!

(Hello Middle School!!)

I love that Sam has always gone in late the morning of the first day of school so he's able to not only make breakfast and participate in back to school photos, but also to go with us to the bus stop to officially see them off on the first day back! It means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to the kids as well!

Today I picked them all up from school because I had all of their parent teacher connection meetings right afterwards. Starting last year, after all the drama of Covid, the school district decided the first three days back to school would be half days, so that parents had a chance to meet with teachers, fill out paperwork, and ask questions and such. I think it's a great idea, even though it's a lot of work to hustle around to the different schools and meetings. But it's definitely been helpful. The kids get an easy and gradual start to school, which makes going back just a tad less hard, and we I get to meet the teachers right off the bat. It was most important for Timothy, since it's his first year in the Middle School and they didn't have an open house. Our meetings went great, and I think everyone is very optimistic for a great year!

It feels good to get back into the swing of a normal routine and have some time to myself again.....but I'm not gonna lie....I definitely miss sleeping in, lol! And I do miss the kids when they are gone all day.

Cheers to a fruitful year!

With love,
Mama Hauck
