Quarantine, Day 16. Salt Dough Easter Ornaments.

We missed craft day this week because the kids were in IHS. That's In Home Suspension, in case you didn't know.

Anyway, we made up craft day today! I thought with Easter approaching, these Salt Dough Easter Ornaments would be perfect!

They were super simple to make. The kids like rolling the dough on the table and figuring out how many cookie cutters we could fit in the dough before running out of room. We've had these Easter cookie cutters for years....I'm glad to finally have put them to use!

After baking them for 2 hours, we let them cool and got to painting! Then I strung them and we hung them on our little tree. FUN!

We also made chocolate chip cookies! The kids have been begging for months now. I have such poor self control, I know that if I make them, they're all going in my belly. Then I'll get a migraine from too much sugar.

You'd think that knowing this, I could control myself.

No. There is no control.

So I try to resist the kids' pleas to make these delicious chocolate morsels in the first place. Today, however, with the kids being mostly perfect angels, I wanted to reward their good behavior. And I wanted to reward myself for another week of homeschooling in the books too. Go me.

The kids did a great job on the cookies. They did everything except for the actual baking and moving them to the cooling rack. Timothy really impressed me with his reading skills. He read all the ingredients AND read the directions, so he knew when to add what. He would hand each ingredient to Molly with the correct measuring cup or spoon. It was a good lesson for both of them!

ALSO, it turns out, cookies are a good way to bribe the boys to let their Papa give them much needed haircuts.

Sweet Baby Jesus....YEES!!!!  It was about time!!

With love,
Home-Schooling Mama Hauck
