Kids' Birthday Shenanigans

For his birthday this year, Anthony decided to have 3 friends come sleep over the day before his birthday. He wasted no time opening the gifts from his friends, and we surprised him with a tree fort remodel! Sam and I turned the tree fort "play room" into a "lego room." That went over super well with all the kiddos! It turned out so awesome!

The boys spent a great deal of time riding bikes (including making a bike ramp), jumping on the trampoline, and the usual boy mischief. Ice cream and a round of video games rounded out the evening. They all decided to sleep in the living room, and with that decision, there went my 11 year streak of balloons and streamers on the birthday boy's door for him to wake up to. Waahhh!!  Ohhh well, things are bound to change as they get older.

After a birthday breakfast of eggs and cheesy smokies, I loaded everyone up and we set out for ice cream at Big Jim's (our new favorite ice cream joint), and then to the movie theater to watch the new Jurassic World movie.

Movie complete, I dropped Anthony's friends off at home and we headed on home as well to wait for Papa to get off work. He and I spent some time in the lego room while we waited. Once Papa got home, Anthony did presents from family, his birthday stocking, ate a birthday treat, and, as always, got measured on the height board!

Happy Birthday, Anthony!!

For Miss Molly's birthday, she decided to get her nails done with 2 of her friends! She was also able to have one of her friends sleep over the night before her birthday, so that was fun! I took the gals to the salon and they were able to get their finger and toe nails painted. Next time it would be nice for them to actually get a foot soak and scrub and such. That's what I had booked, but something happened on their end that messed up that plan, so a normal polish on fingers and toes is all they got. I was upset that things didn't go as planned, but they gals were happy regardless.

After nails, we headed to the park for a picnic, a birthday treat (it was too windy for a candle, darn it! But we did sing happy birthday!), play time, and presents from her friends. Back at the house, the gals spent time playing, listening to music, and dancing around while we waited for Papa to get off work.  We did Molly's birthday stocking, ate the requested meal of stroganoff for dinner, then did presents from family while her friends watched. After driving her friends home, we ended the evening with marking her height on the height board and lots of birthday snuggles!

Happy Birthday, Molly!!

With love,
Mama Hauck
