4th of July Fun

We did something different this 4th of July.....we went to the beach! Well, kinda! I thought it would be a fun idea to head out to the Pipeline Trail in Hood River and hang out down by the beach area they have there along the trail!

We packed a picnic lunch, loaded up the kiddos and dogs, and headed out. I was really excited to bring Leo. He isn't a big fan of car rides....I think car rides make his stomach hurt, but I picked up a homeopathic remedy that worked wonderfully! He didn't make a peep the entire time and he was just so relaxed. It was awesome.

We really enjoyed our time at "the beach!" The hike in to the beachy area is only about a mile. We made sure to get there early, it was 9:30 when we arrived. I wanted to be sure we got the spot before anyone else showed up. Thankfully that plan worked and we had the whole area to ourselves except for a few passer by's every now and again.

I don't know who enjoyed the water more....Papa, the kids, or Daisy! Hahaha Leo and I enjoyed the views from the sand. The kiddos also enjoyed playing in the sand with all the grandparents, who also came along for our 4th of July beach adventure.

After getting home from our little beach trip, we had a cook out consisting of burgers and hotdogs, then the boys headed out to get in a bit of shooting at our homemade shooting range. Sam used our neighbor's tractor to dig out the side of a small hill to make the area safer to shoot at, and Anthony got some new targets for his birthday he was itching to try out. Even Timothy got in a little bit of shooting time.

Molly got a volley ball net for her birthday, so there has definitely been a lot of volleyball games recently! The net was such a great purchase, I love having it up in the yard and watching everyone play.

To cap off the day, the kiddos (and Sammy and Grandpa!) had fun with sparklers! We are experiencing high temps and pretty severe dry conditions already this season, so anything other than sparklers in the middle of the driveway were out of the question. Unfortunately, I think we're going to have a bad fire year. There's already been a handful in the gorge, ughhh.

We really enjoyed this 4th of July. We don't always get to do something fun, so I'm pleased we were able to spend this year with family and make some fun memories!

With love,
Mama Hauck
