Put in the Hard Work

There are some kids who can sail through school with hardly lifting a finger. Things just come easily to them with what looks like very little effort on their part. When I was a kid, that was not me. Likewise, that is not Anthony.

Anthony has always had to "work" at school. I do not see this as a bad thing. Actually, I see it as a really, really great thing. When others can look at a list of spelling words and get them right the first time, or get a math problem done in seconds, Anthony will need to study those spelling words numerous times through the week, and take extra time to check and double check his math work. He knows what it means to struggle, yes, and he knows what it means to work towards success.

When you have to work hard for something, the success that comes with that hard work means more and tastes that much sweeter.

This year, Anthony sure has put in the hard work, and it's payed off.  In between being a part of astronomy club, having a long and busy wrestling season, weekly saxophone lessons, and normal day-to-day family life, he's maintained a 3.9 or higher GPA on his report cards. And let me tell you, this has not come without its ups-and-downs.

We are so proud of him.

He also recently received a certificate for being Student of the Month for March! He was so excited and proud.

Keep it up, sweet boy. I know you get frustrated and tired of the struggle, but you are so much better for the hard work than others are for the lack there of. In life, not all things come easily. You are learning the value and pay off of hard work. You are exploring, within yourself, your ability to rise up to the challenge. You are growing humble. That's the kind of man you want to be.

With love,
Mama Hauck
