Timothy's Birthday Shenanigans

Timothy's birthday festivities stared Friday, the day before his birthday, with eating lunch with Mama and Grandma Whitten at school, and then sharing ice cream with his class! He was very excited to have his classmates sing happy birthday to him and give everyone a scoop of ice cream in celebration for his birthday! And the lucky birthday boy got to have his friend Peter ride the bus home and spend the night Friday night too!

Rise and shine! It's birthday time! It was really special for Timothy to have his friend sleep over for his birthday and have someone there in the morning to celebrate with him. The two of them spent a lot of time running through his birthday streamers, bopping around his birthday balloons, playing outside, and they even took a dip in the hot tub! I'm glad Peter was there to help keep Timothy preoccupied as the rest of us ran around trying to get ourselves and everything else ready for our eventful day!

Sweet Timothy, he waited so patiently for everyone to be finished getting ready for the day before he got to open up his birthday stocking and his presents! He was really excited to receive new pajamas, a new disc-man, a cool fanny pack, his yearly photo book from Grandma Whitten, a Nerf gun, a new football, and of course his favorite....money!

With everyone finally ready and presents opened, it was time to hit the road!

First stop for the birthday boy and his gang was to Big Jim's in The Dalles for ice cream! This is Timothy's favorite place to get ice cream.....and mine too!! This was a great choice of stops as it was already 80+ out 11am! It took a while to order ice cream for 12 kids and 7 adults, but we managed to pull it off. Every single bite of ice cream was devoured and enjoyed, there was not a cone crumb left! Timothy was so happy to be at his favorite ice cream joint with his friends, his shit eating grin said it all!

Our second stop of the day was to Sorosis Park! This park is awesome, all wood and lots of hiding nooks. Perfect for playing hide and seek! After being slathered with sunscreen, the kids spent a good deal of time playing before coming back to the tables for a picnic lunch. My friend Molly made Timothy's birthday cake for me because I was short on time to do it myself and I am so, so thankful!! It was chocolate-chocolate and soooo delicious! After singing happy birthday, eating cake, and opening up a few more gifts, the kids took off for another hour of play.

As our time at the park came to a close, a few friends had to take off, but we were still left with half the group! It was HOT out, so after a few errands, our third stop of the day was to Horsethief Lake! All the kids were so excited to swim! Good thing we packed everyone's swimsuits on a whim! It felt great to let the kids cool off in the lake for a while. I even managed to make the birthday boy slow down enough to get a photo with him!

Originally our plan was to drop all the birthday guests off and head home to figure out dinner, but the birthday boy had other plans....and I guess it was only 4 o'clock, lol, still plenty of time for more fun! So we went out to eat at Timothy's favorite joint, Spooky's! We ordered a few dishes and a couple pizzas to eat while the kids spent time playing in the game room.

Ah, it was the cherry on top of a perfect birthday!

Finally back home with birthday shenanigans at an end, we followed through with our yearly tradition to mark the birthday boy on our family's height board. Holy smokes has he grown! I'm so glad we do this yearly, it's amazing to see the growth from year to year and it's so fun to compare all of the kids' heights to each other.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Timothy Thomas! We soooo enjoyed watching you smile and spend time with your friends.

I'm so thankful you still fit in my lap and want to snuggle with me. Even at 7.

With love,
Mama Hauck
