Making that Sweet Music

I love listening to my babies play.

Even Timothy is getting in on the music fun, getting a lesson here and there from Grandma Cathy!

Keep it up, sweet kiddos!!

May Garden Progress

Our sweet garden is just chugging right along, getting more and more beautiful every day!

The snap peas came in sporadically, lol. I think when Mols and Tim were helping to plant the snap peas, they missed spots. Ah well, that's ok. I planted in the empty spots a week ago, so it'll eventually fill in!

The raspberries are doing well. I had to go back and cut out a few more dead ones that I thought might be ok, but unfortunately didn't make it. However, I have TONS of new little growth that'll be great for next year! I'm not sure how abundant the raspberry yield will be this summer, but as long as I get a few as a snack each time I come down to water the garden in the summer, I'll be happy!

The broccoli is doing amazing! I didn't realize the plant itself got so big! They're huge!! They've just shot right up, and all but a few have started to grow their broccoli crown! I know nothing about growing broccoli, so I'm not sure how big I should let the crown get before I pick it! Super excited for home grown broccoli!

The carrots are now big enough for me to know they're not a weed when I weed the garden beds, haha! The kids are already excited about picking the carrots, they love pulling them out of the ground and dumping them in the bathtub to wash!

Like the broccoli, the strawberries have just exploded! We will have TONS of strawberries this year. It's crazy to think four mother plants two summers ago could spread and take over so quickly! I might have to get some netting to drape over them so the birds and yellow jackets stay away!

The cabbage looks great! I'm glad we planted more this year.  Molly loves the fact that her cabbage that she got from her teacher as a summer growth project, is the biggest, lol.

Like the snap peas, the cucumbers came in quite sporadically. We only have one mound where all the seeds took! And I know everything was planted correctly....Sam did it, not the kids, lol. Still, I think we'll be just fine and get enough to make pickling worth our time.

We are very excited about our pumpkin patch! We planted way earlier this year, so we'll be getting an extra 5-6 weeks of growing time before picking! So far they are doing great! Each of the four beds came in nicely. No vines yet, of course, but I'm excited to start seeing them appear, spread, and then those beautiful yellow flowers!

So far so good! And we are just getting started! How exciting it will be to watch the snap peas trellis up and get that first ripe berry!

Ants on a Log

Something amazing happened the other day!

Timothy discovered the delicious snack of ants on a log....

....and he LOVED it!

I could faint!

Apparently his class had it as a snack one day and now he just can't get over it, lol. I'm pretty sure he has surprised and shocked himself that he likes celery (with peanut butter and raisins on top....lets not get crazy now and eat it plain).

In fact, he loves it so much, he insists on making it for everyone in the house, lol. He is officially the honorary ants on a log maker. He also insists on making them with the peanut butter you can grind up right at the store in their organic section. This was spurred by his desire to "make his own" peanut butter on "his" snacks.

Love it.

Here's a little tid-bit of info for you: Sam had never had an ants on a log until Timothy made it for him. Um, what? That is crazy talk.

Welcome to the world of ants on a log, Hauck family.

The Perfect Breakfast

I love going out to breakfast!

It's the only time I get to have pancakes, bacon, AND s'mores.

If you ask me, that's a perfect breakfast.

Thank you, sweet kiddos.

Goldendale Farmers Market

Sammy and I had our first 2018 Goldendale Farmers Market day on Saturday, May 12th! It was the opening day of the market too.

After taking all of last summer off, we decided we would participate in the market every 1st Saturday of the month. This works for us. We get in lots of fun family time with the kiddos over the summer, and still get to take part in the market one Saturday a month. That hits just the right balance in my books!

We are really looking forward this market season! Goldendale Country Bumpkins is ready!

Timothy's Birthday Shenanigans

Eekkk! We had so much fun on Timothy's birthday! It's always the best idea ever when we all decide to play hooky from work and school!

Opening presents was the first thing on Timothy's birthday to-do list! First he opened up his birthday stocking which was filled with sunglasses, running head and wrist bands, a new toothbrush, a farting pig game (lol), glow sticks, a shirt, and a hat! Next it was cards from family....he totally got spoiled with some birthday spending money! Thank you! New p.j.'s, some live plants for his fish tank, a "defuse the bomb" game, fun paper and sticky notes, and pretend drinks to go along with his kitchen food collection rounded out the birthday gift experience.

Of course chocolate chip pancakes and bacon, his old favorite, was requested for breakfast. Breakfast in bed, however, is now a new favorite!

After the chaos of getting everyone all ready and calling them out of school, we headed into town to pick Grandma up. First on Timothy's birthday wish list, ice cream at Big Jims in The Dalles! .....but not before getting in a little birthday nap on the way, haha!

I'm so glad Timothy had this idea because I have been craving a cone with delicious chocolate peanut butter ice cream since last summer! It totally hit the spot!

Next up, Sorosis Park in The Dalles. Seriously the best park around! Who doesn't love those big, huge wooden parks with all those nooks and crannys, perfect for playing hide and seek!

After all that playing, it was time for some birthday shopping and lunch! We headed to Freddy's where Timothy bought some bubbles, a board game, and water gun toys with his birthday cash before heading out to lunch. Timothy's birthday lunch request was Spookys! We played a bunch of games, ate, and Timothy even got a free cookie and ice cream dessert! Yay! He was embarrassed to have the people sing to him, but I thought it was sweet. See, it pays off to tell everyone its your birthday, hahaha.

Next up, a hike on our favorite trail, The Hoodriver Pipeline Trail! We've done this hike 5 times now because it's just so fun walking on top of the pipe! Plus there are spots where you can exit the trail and go play along the water in the sand. Fun!  I love all of Timothy's birthday choices!

After that long, fun filled day, it was time to head home and wrap things up with some birthday cake! Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, to be exact!

Whoops! Almost forgot to mark his height on our height board! Can't forget that!! Growing like a weed! Taller than Molly at 6, but not as tall as Anthony at 6. Right in the middle!

And just because it was his birthday, a little bit of glow stick fun in Mama and Papa's bed!

Thanks for all the birthday fun, sweet boy!! We love you!
