Visiting Mike, Remembering Joanie

This past Memorial Day Weekend, we went to visit Mike. We made a trip to the Tohoma National Cemetery where Joanie is interred. It was such a warm and gorgeous day. The view of Mt. Rainer from the cemetery was breathtaking! Flowers and flags adorned the grounds; it was a wonderful sight.

We cut flowers from Mike's yard to bring with us, and Mike and the kids placed them next to Joanie. Our visit to see Joanie was beautiful and much needed by all. Just beautiful.

Mike was so kind as to heat the pool for us. The kids were out of their minds excited to be able to have some pool time fun. In truth, other than a shopping trip to Costco, the grocery store, and out to ice cream, we did little else. The down time was great. Nothing beats sitting by their pool, drink in hand, soaking up the sun while watching the kiddos play. All of them have made great growth with their water confidence. Anthony was jumping in the deep and swimming, Molly was jumping in with her life vest, and you should have seen Timothy swimming all over with his life vest on! What a big boy!

We really enjoyed our visit with Mike. I think our company was good for him too. We talked about Joanie, shared stories, and we went through some things. It felt nice to be in Joanie's "space."

We're hoping to return for another visit this summer....just like we've done for the past 10 years.

With love,
Mama Hauck
