Wrestling

Anthony and Molly are in the full swing of wrestling season. They started up in November, and with the exception of taking all of winter break off (it was sooo nice to have a true break from activities!), have been happily attending weekly meetings.

This year, along with our regular wrestling group at the high school on Wednesdays, we've started on with a new wrestling group at the middle school on Sundays! We love our regular group, which we've grown close to over the past 5 years, but it is definitely nice to experience a new group filled with new faces and new coaches. In my mind, if you love something, get all the exposure and guidance you can on it, right? And so we attend both groups.

The kids are really enjoying themselves. They always do!

Molly has become a little less meek this year, really using those muscles of hers and not being afraid to try the moves she's being taught. It's awesome watching her, she's always got a smile on her face and is giggly, haha.

Anthony has been able to experience more one-on-one instruction this year and I am so very thankful for that. For some reason....due to his age and his size.....he has always had a hard time being paired with a perfect match. He's small (but mighty!!) for his age. So naturally he's too much for the younger kids, but too small for the kids around his age. This leaves him feeling frustrated as he's either paired up with someone who is completely under-experienced (he's been doing this for 5 years now!) or paired with a boy double his size who just squashes him. Luckily, because he's receiving more one-on-one instruction, even if he's paired up with someone that isn't such a great match, he can learn the moves and practice them. It's been great.

This year Anthony also gets to experience his first tournament. We all feel as if he's ready, so come March we'll attend one so he can have that experience. If he's into it, we'll attend more that month. We're hoping he'll love it.....he's nervous about being in front of tons of people wrestling....but I've explained to him that it will be so awesome because in a real tournament he will be paired with the perfect match as they have to be in the same weight class! It will be a great learning experience for him and a great way for him to really test his skill.

Keep on keeping on, kiddos! You both continuously make us proud with your desire to learn and strive to do and be better.

With love,
Mama Hauck
