Crafty Children

For an end of the school year project for his class, Anthony made a diorama of the Columbia River Gorge! He was so excited when he learned he needed to create a project for class, and in true Anthony form, he chose something hands-on where he got to build.

I'm really proud of Anthony and his work! He decided on the diorama, created the plan and materials list, and with our help, did an awesome job building it. I'm especially proud of his clay working skills; his eagle and deer are awesome! He also did a mighty fine job on his write up description of it. He even got it done in time to have it be put on display for Leadership Day at the Primary School. He was super stoked about that and we are so proud of him!

It was not all sunshine and rainbows with this project though. There was a hot glue incident that really got him good. The burn wasn't bad enough to go to the doctor, but still pretty bad. Even under my careful watch, accidents happen. I'm so mad at myself for letting him use the hot glue gun, but darn it, he really wanted to make the cotton ball clouds himself! Remembering the sound of his scream when the molten glue glob landed on his hand still turns my stomach. That was an awful evening. He wouldn't let me take a picture of it, but it's not pretty. It's on it's way to healing, but still definitely yucky. *sigh*

I better get one of those kid friendly hot glue guns that don't get as hot as lava. Until then, no more cotton ball clouds.

Little Miss Molly also worked on a project, specifically for Leadership Day! She chose to make a stick and shell craft; just like the ones I do for the Farmers Market. In all honesty, I totally love hers more than any of the ones I've ever created! She made 5 flowers with two dragonflies and two snails. She told me hers was put on display in the display case just as you walk into the school. Great job, Hunny Bunny!

Love my little crafters!

With love,
