Easter Fun and Learning the Truth

We had a wonderful Easter, and this year, Grandma was here to enjoy all the Easter fun with us!

We dyed our eggs Saturday night. The kids always get a kick out of doing that. You know they're getting older when they try to dye their eggs half and half and give them pretty designs instead of plopping it in the bottom of a cup, usually breaking it. ;)

After getting all the kids to bed and waiting for them to fall asleep, Sam and I got to work hiding eggs and setting out the already stuffed baskets. I love that part. It's so fun finding hiding places for the eggs, thinking about which ones we knew Timothy would get, where Molly would know to look, and where we could put some to make the search a bit harder for Anthony.

After finishing, I went to put something away in Anthony's room and I discovered him awake. Something was up. Sam and I brought him to our room to figure out what was wrong. He looked sad. Somber. Miserable. He said he had something to tell us, but he didn't know how to say it.

Holy crap my heart was pounding. I knew what he was going to say. He got down out of bed to get his watch and saw me hiding eggs, putting the baskets out, and talking with Papa.

"I kinda have this feeling that the Easter Bunny isn't real."

In that moment, Sam and I looked at each other and just knew it was time. We told Anthony that he was right, there isn't really an Easter Bunny. Sam discussed the true meaning of Easter with him and how its special and important to know what Easter is really all about. We talked about how all the other stuff....the eggs, baskets, candy, Easter Bunny, etc. is just a fun way for families to celebrate Easter in a different way. The Easter Bunny is make believe, and that's ok because he's not the true meaning of Easter, but it doesn't mean the fun stops or goes away for our family! Now Anthony is part of a special club that knows the true meaning of Easter and is the protector of the Easter Bunny story until Molly and Tim are ready to learn.

With that, he was content again. And older than I wanted my baby to be. I have a feeling Santa will be on the chopping block this Christmas for him. He knows what Christmas is all about, as does Molly, but I don't feel ready for Santa and all that Christmas magic to go away for him yet. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Easter morning started early, as always in our family! The kids woke up early and were ready to find those eggs! Timothy really enjoyed the trail that was left to the Easter baskets, and all the kids had a great time finding the eggs. Anthony was chipper, and that was great to see. The fun was still there for him.

Their baskets were filled with new swim suits, running clothing, books, some candy, spending money, and special picture books of their past summer trip to CA. Easter baskets in our home are always filled with fun and practical items, and just enough goodies to satisfy all the bellies in our family!

We had a delicious breakfast of biscuits and gravy, then enjoyed the day hanging out and playing. It was super windy and cold out, but the kids did get all bundled up and got to enjoy a bit of outside time. Dinner consisted of smoked ribs, green beans, broccoli salad, and homemade biscuits. Anthony said our grace.

Hunny Bunnies

These three are just so cute, I could eat them up! It's a good thing I'm not particularly fond of eating rabbit. ;)

I wonder how much longer Anthony will allow me to stick bunny ears on his head? He is so nice to his Mama, putting up with my silly requests. And Molly's face in that third photo....HAHAHA, priceless! They started making silly faces at each other and then couldn't stop giggling.

I love you, Hunny Bunnies. Happy Springtime! I know we are all excited for longer days and warmer weather so we can hop around and enjoy all the fun that Spring brings us, starting with Easter!

With love,
