The Fish

Each of the kiddos have a money jar where they keep money they get from Birthdays, Christmas, and money that they've earned.

We encourage them to save their money, and they do a great job! When they are feeling like they'd like to make a purchase of some sort, we encourage them to think hard about the purchase. Is it a need or a want? Will it last a long time or break shortly after buying? Is it something they've been wanting for a long time? Will they be sure to play/use this item? Do they want to wait and save up for a bigger purchase?

Responsibility!

Ultimately, the purchase has to be Mama and Papa approved. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not.

Recently, the kids decided they each wanted a fish. Sam and I were definitely ok with that....with a few rules:

1) Each kiddo had to pick their own fish out and purchase it with their own money.
2) Each kiddo will be responsible for feeding their own fish and no one else's....on the feeding schedule set out by me and no other time to avoid over feeding! haha!
3) Each kiddo will help to clean their fish's tank.

Ohhhhh how long of a process it was for them to each pick out their own fish!! But ohhhhh how I loved watching them pick out the one they thought was the most perfect

Super fun!! They are all so proud that they picked out and payed for their own fish. They have also been super good about feeding their fish. Every day I catch Timothy sitting on his dresser just watching his fish swim about. The other day I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was just watching his fish "do nothing." hahaha!

Love it.

With love,
Mama Hauck
