On a Pefectly Overcast Morning in October....

You can make anything spooky in October......even a little nature walk! ;)

On a perfectly overcast morning in October, a Mama and her Son left their cozy cabin and set out on a walk.

"It's a bit dreary out this morning, Mama." said the Son. "Yes it is, but that's ok. I'm not afraid!" said the Mama.

Just then, a strange sound came from behind them that rattled them to the core. "What's that noise!? Please hold me! I am afraid, I am afraid!" exclaimed the Mama, and so her Son hugged her fiercely to comfort her.

"It's just a forlorn looking creature." said the Son, "No need to be afraid. Look, he's already leaving, drifting off into the fog."

As they ventured deeper into the woods, the Son made sure to hold his Mama's hand tight. He could tell she was trying to be brave.

They passed many beautiful things while on their walk. The woods was such a magical place, filled with spooky creatures making spooky sounds, but also filled with unimaginable beauty. Together they walked, taking in the sights.

Until something drew the Son's attention....

Something off in the distance, set back behind some trees.....

A building! An old, spooky, rusted out shack.

"Don't you dare go in there!" cried the Mama. "Don't you do it! Heaven only knows whats in there!"

But the curious, brave Son slipped in, determined to check out this forbidden shack, long forgotten by the World.

The Mama anxiously waited outside, unsure of what was going on inside the shack. After what seemed like an eternity, her Son came slowly walking out. But he was not himself..... "What happened in there!?" cried the Mama. The Son did not answer. He just stood there....and stood there....and stood there....frozen in some type of....of trans. "He's under an evil spell!" cried the Mama.

Having watched many scary movies in her lifetime and read many, many scary books, the Mama knew just what to do. She set out in search of what she needed to break the spell. She would need a little of this and a little of that, a black beetle, some yellow flowers, and a whole lot of love. She mixed it all together, gave her Son a sip, and then hugged the stuffing out of him......

....breaking the evil spell! After that terrifying and mystifying adventure, they both decided it was time to leave the magical woods. But what way should they go? The path through the flowers seemed like the right way to go. As they made their way, they stumbled upon a large hole in the ground. "What do you think is in there?" asked the Mama. "Beats me, but I think we should get out of here....I don't want to stick around to find out!"

Sensing their presence, a large black monster leaped from the hole and took chase.

"RUN!!" cried the Mama. She and her Son ran away as fast as their legs could carry them. They came upon a road, turned down it, and ran and ran and ran, never glancing back.

Certain that they had shaken off the monster, they stopped to catch their breath. "That was crazy! What WAS that!?" asked the Son, breathing heavily. "I have no idea, but I'm ready to go home now." the Mama said wearily, "Please hold my hand again and lets get out of here!"

And they lived happily ever after. Hahaha!

Thanks for the nature walk this morning, my little pumpkin!

With love,
Mama Hauck
