Gratitude Journal, Month 4

Today marks exactly 4 months since I started my Gratitude Journal. Every night, as I crawl into bed, I take out my journal and I think of 5 things I am grateful and thankful for on that particular day. It can be anything, big or small. Things I am continuously thankful for, or things that came up that day that I am newly thankful for. Things like this....

Smores

Listening to Timothy and Molly sing Frozen
Getting in a nap
Lindt chocolate
Date night with Sam
Anthony calming Molly's first day of school jitters
Creamer for my coffee
Finally a new windshield for the car
Space heater in my bathroom
Not getting lost in the corn maze...left turns only!
Sleeping in
My mother being a phone call away
Big profit day at the Farmers Market
A trip to my favorite beach
Peaches from the neighbor to make peach cobbler
Hearing Timothy say "Good night, Mama" in his sweet voice
Getting the last slice of pizza
My cowgirl boots
Watching the kids play in the sprinkler
New neighbors
The view from my front porch
The ability to eat a big slice of humble pie
A long, hot bath
Custom orders
Motivation to conquer the to-do list today
Brunch and girl talk with Tracie
Watching Molly find the courage to get out on the mats and wrestle
Having control of the TV remote
Texting my dad
Baby wipes
Early bed time
Reading with Anthony and watching his growth
King size hotel bed
Cutting my losses
Scary movie night
Dunkin Donuts
Timothy in footie pajamas
Friend Molly always understanding and never judging
Rolling with the punches
Digging my toes in the sand
Candy from the kids' candy bags...they'll never know
Removing FB and e-mail from my phone
Maple syrup samples
"Good Night, Vermont"
A trip down memory lane
Grandma bought me a coffee and lemon pound cake
Collecting pine cones with Timothy
Glade plug-ins, pine scented
Tommy's visit to the Hauck Homestead
Antique shops
Turtle night lights
New sheets
The sunrise that greats me each morning after the bus stop
Awesome parent-teacher conferences
Tylenol
Being able to forgive and move on
Chocolate chip pancakes
Laughing while playing Wii Dance
The look on their faces when they saw the tree fort
Sweatpants
I live where I live
Sam surprising me with dessert at soccer practice
Safe flight home
Peeking through the kids' door after they've all fallen asleep

I can feel a change. I don't dwell on the negative as much. I don't stay as angry or sad as long. I'm quicker to bounce back from a sad or frustrating situation. I roll with the punches and let things roll off my shoulders a lot better than in the past. It has truly helped me, in many ways, to keep this daily gratitude journal for the past 4 months. My goal is to do it for a full year. I encourage you to start one as well!!

With love,
Mama Hauck

  1. There certainly is a lot to be thankful for, seems the little things are easy to forget sometimes but they add up. Your post is a good reminder of that. I always love reading about the things that bring happiness and meaning into your life. :)
