Christmas Eve and Christmas on the Hauck Homestead 2014

Christmas Eve started with some big help from my little helpers! We had to make Santa's mounds goody bars so he would have a tasty treat when he stopped by our home!

Then it was time to write our notes to Santa. Anthony and Molly had already written their notes earlier in the week, so it was Timothy's turn. What do you want from Santa, Timothy?

Molly made some reindeer food in class, but Timothy and Anthony needed some. And then Molly decided she needed more, so we all sat down and made little baggies of oats and carrots for Santa's reindeer.

Dinner on Christmas Eve consisted of sparkling apple cider, turkey, stuffing, sour cream and chives mashed potatoes, cranberries, and marshmallow whipped fruit salad. YUM!!

After eating dinner we headed on out to the yard to dump out our reindeer food. It was so lovely out!

Our Christmas Eve tradition is to have the kiddos open one gift each. They also get a little basket with popcorn, hot chocolate, and their hot chocolate mug. Then we all snuggle in for a Christmas movie! This year they each received a color changing night light orb and then we watched Home Alone. It was their first time watching that movie and they loved it!

I was able to get a few photos of the kids in front of the tree. I try to do this every year....even if the kids get annoyed with me. ;)

Before sending the kiddos off to bed, we got out Santa's milk, goody bar, and notes. Anthony said he wanted to stay up all night. I laughed at that because 15 minutes after laying down, he and the other two were sound asleep!

What a beautiful site to be seen on such a lovely evening. I could have stayed up all night just gazing at the tree and the glow of the lights....but then, you know, Santa wouldn't have come. ;)

Christmas morning, oh my! Santa came, stuffing the stockings and leaving special presents!

Sam and I were just finishing up our morning routine when we hear from the living room a little voice exclaim, "Ohhh wooooow!" Oh my gosh it was the sweetest thing I had ever heard! We rushed out to the living room to see that Timothy had gone right to the grill Santa left and was already playing with it. :)

Opening presents was a blast! Although Timothy bounced back and forth between really digging it, and not wanting to do it at all. He wasn't feeling up to par, poor boy. Still we really enjoyed the morning and the kids received a bunch of goodies. Molly's favorite was an Elsa dress for herself and for her American doll. Anthony's favorite was his Hess Trucks and Legos. And Timothy's favorite was his grill and cooking accessories. Other gifts included: books, calendars, p.j.'s, shirts, undies, doll clothing, hats-gloves-scarfs, slippers, new bedding, toy dinosaurs, journals, step ladder for tree fort, hammock for tree fort, water pick, two Wii games and accessories, and many, many more awesome gifts.

Thank you to everyone who sent our family cards and gifts. We truly appreciate your love and thoughtfulness!

After opening gifts, we ate a breakfast of little cheddar smokies and a sausage egg bake. I love little smokies!

The remainder of the day was spent picking up, organizing, burning all of our wrapping trash, playing with our new toys, and eating our traditional Christmas dinner of homemade clam chowder!

Another wonderful Christmas at the Hauck Homestead!

With love,
Mama Hauck
