The Pumpkin Patch

Our pumpkin patch adventure didn't go quite as planned. The weather in Vancouver was poopy (just like I knew it would be) so we opted to go to a pumpkin patch closer to home where the weather was gray, but at least there was no rain. I decided I REALLY didn't want to deal with kids getting soaked, muddy boots, etc. etc. Because of this change of venue, our friends did not accompany us. The place we went to wasn't the best and the kids were a bit disappointed there weren't any slides or hay towers and stuff of that sort, but there was at least a corn maze and some pumpkin bowling and a really awesome shop filled with apples, cider, popcorn, caramel apples, etc. We did have fun, but we probably wont go to this one again.

Our trip started out with me realizing I forgot to put the battery back in my camera. GRRR!! Any hopes of getting some nice "Timothy's first time at a pumpkin patch" photos flew out the window and I was sooooo annoyed with myself. Pretty much the photographers ultimate fail! At least I had grabbed the small point and shoot camera.

First we took a stroll through a building they had set up and decorated in honor of the Olympics. It was pretty cool to see how they manipulated pumpkins, gourdes, and clothing to look like the different sports. Anthony and Molly dug it.

Next was the corn maze! It really wasn't a maze....as you could only take one trail.....but it was still nice to frolic in the corn.

After the maze, we headed out to the pumpkin patch! We took a cart and had a good time picking through the pumpkins. Did you know pumpkin patches made you have to pee? Yup, apparently. Molly simply could not wait. Ohhh why were the potty's a million miles away!? Against my wishes, she peed in the pumpkins. And on my boots. No sooner had Molly gotten done when here comes Anthony running up to me and drops pants. There was no stopping him. I had to turn him around real quick so the general public wouldn't catch sight of what he was doing. Please note that I normally do not make it a habit of letting my children potty out in public! Hahaha

Lastly, we let the kids do a little pumpkin bowling before picking out some indian corn, mini  pumpkins, and guards. We headed into the little shop and picked up some apples, apple cider, got the kids each a bag of popcorn, and I got the most delicious caramel apple before hitting the road.

  2. How fun! We are taking the kids to the pumpkin patch for the very first time this year and I'm super excited. They were so hard to find in Florida but there are an abundance of them here in my beloved California. Piper actually went with her class on a field trip so it will be her second time (so bummed I didn't get to volunteer for that and get pictures of her on her first every pumpkin patch visit).
