Happy Birthday Molly!

(Yes, my children are exactly 2 years and 1 day apart!)

Little Mols turns 3 today!!

Just like with Anthony yesterday, I was sneaky and birthdayfied her room by hanging up streamers and putting some balloons in her room after she fell asleep last night. Boy was she EXCITED when she woke up and saw them!! Yesterday I had to keep telling her, "Today is Anthony's birthday, tomorrow is yours!" as she felt a bit left out when Anthony opened a few gifts. lol

Happy Birthday, Molly!

You are the sweetest little thing around and we love you to pieces!

Happy Birthday Anthony!

My sweet (not so) little man turns 5 today!

Last night I snuck some balloons into his room and hung up some streamers on his door so this morning when he woke up his room would be "birthdayfied!"

I think it was a hit. :)

Happy Birthday, Anthony!

We love you sooooooo very much and are so proud of you.

It's Finally Friday!

WOW was it a looooooooooong week. There were poop explosions, projectile vomiting, many clothing changes (for baby AND me), the sad sight of a dead baby deer in the front yard, my stupid dogs rolling in the dead baby deer, toddler meltdowns, preschooler (I mean postschooler?? LOL) bad attitudes, infant fussiness, etc. etc. *sigh* I think I cried once out of frustration, but you know all is well that ends well. I made it through the week with a smile on my face, though still incredibly exhausted. I'm thinking that wont be changing anytime soon.

Anyhow....my dad flys in from NY tomorrow! We'll be picking him up at the airport and then going to OMSI, a hands on science center/museum, in Portland, OR. We've never taken the kids there, so we're all super excited to go.

Now here's some cuteness to hold ya'll over till my next post! ;)

Have a great weekend!

Special Thanks

I love getting goodies in the mail! ;) Who doesn't!?

My sweet friend Lori and her family in Minnesota sent this beauty in the mail for little Timothy:

THANK SO MUCH, Lori!! What a thoughtful gift! He loves it, as you can see! It matches perfectly with his crib bedding of blue and brown! :)

Bedroom Revamped

I've been wanting to change up our bedroom for a while now, but didn't know exactly how. I knew I wanted it to feel lighter and perhaps beachy (I love all things beach!), but was unsure of where to start. Finally, with some inspiration from Pinterest (people really DO implement ideas from there!) and some help from a wood weathering and staining tutorial, Sammy and I were able to create a beautiful headboard and light atmosphere in one weekend!

It all started with this photo on Pinterest....

Last Saturday I spent the morning going through things and de-cluttering. Then we (ok...Sam, not me) spent the morning painting our bedroom blue. We had lots of paint left over from doing Molly's room so that's what we used. Anthony did the paint people....I don't know why I've got that big belly, I'm not pregnant anymore! LOL!

Fathers Day morning we headed to the hardware store and picked up a whole bunch of wood, some ebony wood stain, and a little thing of white paint.

And so began the work on our new headboard! ;)

We layed out the wood how we wanted it. Sammy turned it all over, took small pieces of wood, and screwed the whole thing together.

We then proceeded to beat the snot out of it. Doing so would go a long way in helping us create the "weathered" look. We let the kids join in on the fun too. Hammers, screwdrivers, chains, chisels...we used it all. Super fun. :)

When we were done banging on it, the end result looked like this:

Sam then wiped on the ebony stain and I followed right behind him wiping off the excess. The stain did a fantastic job of bringing out the wood grain and all the dings and scratches we put in it.

We let the ebony stain dry for about 20 minutes then got our white wash ready. All we did was mix the white paint and some water together, testing the mixture on a piece of ebony stained scrap wood until we got it to the consistency we wanted. Then again Sam wiped it on and I followed behind him wiping up the excess.

After letting it dry, Sam cut a hole where our outlet would be and then we hung it on the wall! I LOVE IT!! It turned out better than I had hoped and is exactly like I pictured.

I'm also thinking of writing a little quote on it like in the inspiration photo. Either "In a sea of people, my eyes will always search for you" or "When I saw you I fell in love and you smiled because you knew." What do you think?? I just need to figure out what to use to write it on the wood.

Our bedroom makeover isn't finished just yet, but we're close. We want to get small white bedside tables and I'd love to eventually get some nice white bedding. I've currently got white curtains on their way to me in the mail and I'm super excited to get those hung.  I've also got a few odds and ends to do like finish printing off some photos for the photo collage on the wall and maybe acquire some more beachy decorations.

All in all I'm loving it! Not bad for a weekend project, ehh?

It's June.

In 8 days my dad will be flying here all the way from NY! He'll be here for about 2 weeks! HOORAY! The last time I saw him was when the kids and I flew out there in February 2011:

That was a great trip. Needless to say a visit is long overdue. And it'll be the first time he'll be here for the kids' birthdays, so that makes his visit even more exciting and special!

Speaking of the kids' birthdays....HOLY CRAP. Anthony is going to be 5 on the 27th and Molly 3 on the 28th. It continues to surprise me year after year just how fast time passes. And when June rolls around, I find myself clutching tight to my jar filled with all the sands of time. I'll sit here (this time with a sleeping baby on my lap) and go through every sand in that jar....smiling, laughing, and crying over every little memory.

At first my family looked like this: (May 17, 2008)

Then it looked like this: (July 26, 2009)

And now it looks like this: (May 25, 2012)

I look at Timothy and see Anthony in his sweet little face and it makes it extra hard for me to choke back the tears when I see him now at almost 5. He seems so grown up and a million years away from that precious little babe he used to be, nestled in my arms cooing at me.

Last week I was reminiscing, looking through old photos just marveling at my children's resemblance towards each other.  Top is Anthony, middle is Timothy, bottom is Molly....all photos taken within their first month of life:

And just last night I was laying in bed remembering this:

My little Mols walking the day before her first birthday. Look at that face! She was so happy with herself and we were all so proud of her. <3

Le sigh.

It is a fact they don't stay little forever. There is no holding back time.

June will forever be my most emotional month.

I Mustache You A Question....

Am I a cutie pie or what!?

It took a lot of patience waiting for my sweet little boy to hold the mustache up to his mouth, lol!!
