Praying Mantis

Or as Anthony likes to call it, praying mastis. The kiddos found this guy on our front porch last Tuesday. He hung around for awhile just chilling out. They watched him with wonder plastered all over their faces, lol, and were sad when Thursday rolled around and they went out and couldn't find him.

On Wednesday I found this guy in the house on the door trim to my bedroom. It's cool that he was whitish instead of green....maybe cause he was on the white door trim? Needless to say he was safely placed outside as he was not a welcome guest IN the house.

Told you being on the Hauck Homestead was like watching the National Geographic Channel. In other words, AWESOME. Kiddos are learning sometime new every dang day.

With love,
Mama Hauck

  1. When I was a kid, I stuck my arm in a bush to get a ball or something that had been thrown in there. When I pulled it out, there was a huge praying mantis on my arm and I FREAKED out! I screamed so loud several neighbors came out to see what the fuss was and started laughing when they saw the bug. I did not find it so funny and am still freaked out by them to this day. We have so many bugs around this place too, it seems like we discover something new every day. Yesterday we saw two of the largest flies I have seen in my life....one was just really big and fat and the other had really long wings. Kind of cool but I did not want them anywhere near me!

  2. HAHAHA! I wouldn't want one on me either, so don't feel bad! Molly hates bugs. She freaked out real bad a couple months ago when a lady bug was on her arm. I couldn't help but laugh, but I did feel bad because clearly it upset her so much! I can already tell she'll be one of those gal who hates bugs forever! Gross! I hate flies. Right now we are having issues with bees. Late August and all of September is bee season here and they are literally EVERYWHERE.
