Randoms for January

*I got Anthony all registered for Preschool for next September!

*In an effort to get my children out of the house and socialize with other kids, for the past two Wednesdays I have taken them to a story/play time event held at our library. Anthony and Molly were timid at first being around a bunch of other kids they didn't know, but by the end of the first trip and definitely the second time we went, they lightened up and actually participated. They had a great time playing with the other kids, listening to a story, dancing and singing, etc. I think this will be a new weekly thing for us.....it'll be good for them.

*This past Wednesday at the library I met a couple with a small boy who I learned live out my way. They use to live in the Portland area, but have been out here for 3 months and I hope to meet up with them sometime. The Mama seems really down to earth and sweet.

*We bought two whole crabs on sale at the grocery store yesterday and we plan on happily devouring them tonight. I can't wait. I LOVE CRAB.

*Friday evening Sammy stayed home and watched the kids and I headed out to The Windy Ridge to listen to my gal pal and her siblings sing and play guitar. They were all acoustic and awesome! Earlier in the week I had helped her make some fliers advertising she'd be there singing, so I owed it to her to go and listen. :) I ate breaded cod and french fries, had a few drinks, and sat back and enjoyed the music.

*I really have to clean my fish tank.....ugh....but I just don't wanna! It's such a pain in the butt.

*The Friday after this one, on the 11th, I fly to NY. Thinking of flying by myself with the two kids is making me want to vomit! AHHHH!! But once we get there, all will be well. It's just the to and from stuff that's getting to me. I'm excited to see my family and some friends. I REALLY have to start packing!!!

*Taxes getting done this Thursday. Finally.

*I got a new phone. It's a Droid. I'm not all knowledgeable about phones and all their hoop-la, but I do know that my phone is pretty rad and it's going to take me forever to learn how to use it and all the app stuff and what not. I was long overdue for a new phone.

Heaven Sent

I feel high
But then sometimes a little low
Feeling like I need to go downtown
Everyone needs their time
Just a little time

I can hear their laughter
Even as I sit there, dim lights surround me
Sipping my drink
They're the ones that keep me grounded
They're the ones that carry me on home

My days are long
But I know they're Heaven sent

My Gals Night Out

I was fortunate enough to have a girls night out!

Sammy took the kids to our friend's house to meet up with the other guys and kids and hang out for the night while us gals went out. A couple of my gal pals and I met up at The Windy Ridge round abouts 7 for a drink and a small bite to eat. The place was pretty dead.....but I expected as much. It was fairly early after all. We put in some song request on the jukebox and when those were over we closed out and headed on over to a bar called Hot Rods. We chummed it up for a long while. It was nice to be away from the kids and have a group of gals to talk to.....even if it was only for a few hours.

At 11:00 we got picked up and headed to our friend's house to finish off the night with the guys and kids. All was well when we got there and I was impressed at how well the guys "held down the fort." lol I'm told the kids were fairly decently behaved. Shortly after I got there, Molly fell asleep.....we layed her down on the couch and she looked so sweet. :) Anthony and his two buds ran around like mad children eating cake and having a grand 'ol time. It was nice to see Anthony have a good time. A few more drinks, some laughs, and a bit of cake later it was time to call it a night.

Got Milk?

Saturday morning I awoke to Anthony whining in his Papa's ear because he was hungry and Molly jumping on my head in bed. Feeling MUCH too tired to crawl out of bed just yet, I told Anthony he could go grab the bag of rice crispies and have some. All seemed fine and dandy with that plan until little Molly toddles out to the living room to investigate what Anthony was eating. Next thing I know Sammy and I hear a "whooossh" of cereal being dumped on the floor. Guess it's time to get up. Instead of making breakfast that morning, we ate cereal.....picnic style. 10 minute rule in my house! I'm such a neat and clean freak my floors are typically spotless. We ate all that our bellies could hold and then cleaned up the rest. All is well that ends well and there's no use crying over spilled cereal! ;) These pictures just make me laugh and I will love them forever.

Sleepy Kisses

I hear you stumble out of bed
Little feet toddle across the living room floor
It's still too early....still too dark
But I knew what you were looking to do
In a child's mind, in this big 'ol World
Mama and Papa's bed feels safe.....

Your sweet little hand reaches the door
And with a whooossh you push it open
A tired sigh escapes my lips, I wipe my groggy eyes
With your blanket slung over your shoulder
And arms reaching out, wanting and waiting
You beckon to me to pick you up

I crack a grin and give a soft chuckle
My open arms happily gobble you whole
I tuck you perfectly into your little nook
That space between your Papa and I
Sleepy kisses and sleepy hugs
All eyes are closed once again

It's times like these I choke back a tear and I think to myself.....
I simply could not love you more

Brusha Brusha Brusha!

My little gal looks so sweet brushing her teeth, Every morning Molly helps me "get ready" by handing me q-tips and my brush, among other things. Then she'll sit on the floor and try to brush her hair and ask to sit on the counter to brush her teeth. What a doll!

Some Thoughts

*Exactly one month until the kiddos and I are on our way to NY! I probably should start packing now.....Lord knows it's going to take me a whole month to do it.

*We got an inch or so of snow and I think are expecting some more tonight. I'm excited for the kids to have snow to play in again......though I'm more excited for it to be spring and summer time already. I'm craving warmer weather, sprinklers, bikes, swings, the sandbox, pools, etc. etc.

*Molly is hilarious. She likes to brush her teeth with me and every time I spit in the sink, she tries to spit too. Every time I dip my toothbrush in the water, she does too. Ohh gosh, it's soooo cute! I have to remember to try and get photos of her brushing her teeth.

*Anthony is working on singing the alphabet! He's got the tune down, but gets his letters mixed up. He makes me sing it for him a hundred times a day I swear! Cracks me up listening to him.....he'll have it down soon.

*Sammy got a few raises at work, on top of the raise he got because of his new position!! I'm stoked we will be able to start paying down some bills. I'm proud of Sam for always seeing us through the rough times.

Love Our Friends

We had a great time this past Friday hanging out at our friends' house. Anthony had a blast running around with the other boys who were there playing and eating junk food. Molly was a Mama and Papa's girl the whole night and wound up falling asleep in my arms. The snacks were tasty, the drinks were delicious, and the company was awesome! We've invited a few people out to our place tonight, so I'm looking forward to some good food, drinks, wii, maybe a board game, and a handful of happy kiddos running around!  And now some photos for your viewing pleasure!

January Projects

I made Molly some hair clips with materials I bought at Joann's....clips, flowers, hot glue.

Sammy built this shelf with materials from Home Depot. He hung it with the help of our neighbor, Leonard.

Sammy bought this cabinet and the materials to make the shelves at Home Depot. Months ago he made the desk slab. This creates the perfect "office" nook in our laundry room and I'm ever so thankful for a place to put our mail, printer, Anthony's work books and work toys, and all those other odds and ends. Cool calendar, huh? Grandpa got that for Anthony for Christmas so I can start teaching him about time and dates, etc.

The Mama Life

Sometimes you just have one of those days...

Anthony has been testing his boundaries lately and driving me absolutely nuts.....to the point of me wanting to rip my hair out. I know he's just being the typical 3 1/2 year old figuring out what he can and can not get away with and figuring out the world, but I'm going nuts in the process. And I don't know if Molly's diapers are just fitting her wrong now or what, but she has peed through onto the couch 4 times in the past 2 days without them even being full!! My furniture smells like wee-wee!! The house is being trashed every 10 seconds. I went and got in the shower with the house being picked up and by the time I got out, all my books and magazines were torn apart and thrown all over the living room. I find much joy with picking the same things up over and over and over and over......The two have taken to screaming at each other at the top of their lungs. That's blissful music to my ears.

No one ever said the life of a stay at home Mama ever did run smooth. Maybe if I feed my babies more chocolate they'll be a little sweeter for me? Haha

Mr. Snowman

I am so proud of my little man! Anthony's made his first ever snowman back on the 22nd of December!....with the help of Papa, of course. ;) The majority of our snow is gone now, and Mr. Snowman, I'm afraid, has suffered the same fate. Every day Anthony looks out the window and goes, "Oh no! Mama! Snowman is melting!!" lol His sweetness makes my heart melt.

Happy New Year!

Photobucket

New years morning we downed our warm attire and headed over to spend some time with my horse! Poor boy, he's got a bad foot right now. At first we were thinking he had a stone bruise turned abscess on his front right hoof, but now we're thinking it's founder.....which sucks. If you'd like to read about founder, go here: http://ultimatehorsesite.com/info/founder.html

We are switching his feed and in time hope to see if this helps him. I hope so!! I was really excited to spend time with Tammy and Leonard and I had a great time walking Nik around. The kids had a great time watching....little Mols got up on Nik for a minute before wanting back down, lol. Eventually Sam and Leonard took the kids in the house and Tammy and I spent a good 30 minutes brushing Nik. He's incredibly filthy from spending a lot of time laying down in his stall because of his sore foot. After only 5 minutes of brushing my arm muscles were on fire!! I went home smelling like horse for the first time in forever. It was awesome.

Horse time is a fun way to start off the new year!
