Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

I had a pleasant Thanksgiving at my Uncle's place. It was great seeing my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and the two new little baby gals. I wasn't able to do a small photo shoot like I had wanted, but that's alright. I managed to take a few nice ones of each gal with their Mama and Papa.

Everyone loved the mac and cheese Sammy and I made and doubly loved the chocolate chip cookies Anthony and I made.

I stuffed my face with tasty smoked turkey, prime rib, stuffing, rolls, mac and cheese, jello, pie, cookies, etc. etc. Anthony and Molly were exceptionally well behaved and I was very proud of them! They both ate like little piggies!

We spent the weekend at my Aunt's place on The Island and managed to visit a few friends and squeeze in a bit of shopping. It's great catching up with people, but I always leave feeling sad. I really miss it there....not just the the handful of friends and family, but the area in general. We headed out early Sunday morning and got home round abouts 1:30. I spent the remainder of the day unpacking, cleaning, and doing laundry....not my idea of a fun evening! But the night was made better when our friend Tim stopped by with a crab for me!! I think I'm going to eat him tonight! Hooray! The last time I had crab was a week before I had Molly. Mmmmm....I can already taste him.

This week I've got to get my butt in gear and finish up working on family Christmas gifts so I can get those boxes out. I also have an appointment for Molly to get a follow up shot tomorrow.....if I decide to brave the ice packed roads that is! I also hope to get over and work with my horse this week too.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm super stoked to be able to make it to The Island to spend it with some family. We're leaving early tomorrow morning and our neighbors will be watching the dogs for us.

Sammy and I are making some mac and cheese by request of my Grandma. I'm looking forward to stuffing my face with turkey and stuffing and candied yams!

I went out earlier this morning to take a few photos and by the 3rd photo I swear my fingers were so cold I thought they were going to fall off!! It got to -1 here last night. Brr!

Surreal

Sometimes, when all is quiet, I panic. I go and steal glances of my sleeping babies just to see that they are real.

Sometimes, when all is quiet, I hold my breath....just waiting for their giggles to fill the air once again to reassure me that all is well.

At times my life as a Mother feels so surreal. Could I be dreaming? How could a love so pure be real? Voids in my heart that I never knew existed before have been filled by their life.

Today I watched as my son stretched his arms out and beckoned for his sister to trust him and slide down the slide into the pile of snow. Giggling, she flashed her smile and let go. My daughter either knows no fear or whole heartily trusts her brother.

God I love my children.

Exciting Horse News!

Our neighbors and good friends from down the way, Tammy and Leonard, took on a 3rd horse. They decided they weren't willing to financially take on the burden of feeding a 3rd horse and asked Sammy and I if we wanted to take on the responsibility of Nik, a beautiful flea bitten gray gelding. After working out some details, we accepted and they gifted him to us!

We will have to pick up the cost of his feed and whatever medical/farrier bills he needs. I've longed to own a horse again for many, many years. My family owned a horse while growing up and I remember the joy he brought us and how excited I was to spend that time with my mother and sisters while caring for and riding Khalid.

We will board him at their place until we get our place set up with a barn, corral, etc. No telling the time line of this, but there is no worry. I have a saddle with some other horse goods and eventually will want and need to get all my own tack and supplies, but Tammy and Leonard are gracious enough to let me use all of their tack and supplies until I do get my own.

You know what the best part is? Nik looks exactly like Khalid, the horse I had as a child, that's pretty cool. He is a flea bitten gray......in the winter they appear mostly gray/white, but come warmer weather, tons and tons of little brown spots appear and they look incredibly gorgeous. Here is a photo I found to show you what a flea bitten gray looks like in warmer weather.

I Am Your Mama

At the end of the day when you swear
The World has done nothing but drag you down
I will forever be there to lift you up

To hold your hand, wipe your tears and kiss your boo boos
To promote honesty
To guide you and act as a confidant
To wish you a humbled life
To lend an ear, as well as an opinion

For I am your Mama
And not even your darkest hour
Could shake my love or chase me away

I am your Mama
Proud and full of unconditional love

Some Day...

Little Pearls,

You might not understand it now, but even if I could hold on to you for forever and a day, it just wouldn't be enough. Some day you will know what I mean. Some day you will see the beauty that I see. And some day you will realize that all of God's light is hidden behind two sparkling eyes.

First Snow Of The Season

First snow of the season was yesterday!! At the end of the day we got about an inch and a half all together at my place. The kids sure loved playing in it! Of course it's all melting today, but that's alright. I hear we are in for a heavy winter.....we'll see if that's true. It was Molly's first time playing in the snow! Last year it snowed very little and she was only 5-6 months anyway, so no snow play for her then. Yesterday, however, she had a blast! And I nearly died laughing when I heard Anthony go, "OH NO!!!! Mama!! My bike is in the snow!!!" as he proceeded to run to it and lovingly dust it off, haha!

I felt a sense of love and peace sitting on my front porch steps all bundled up watching my babies roll around in the snow. All that was missing was my husband and a cup of hot chocolate!

Molly's Room! Nov 2010

I'm finally ready to reveal the project Sammy and I so lovenly worked on! It took a ton of work!! I bought this tree wall decal off of one of my favorite sites, Etsy.com. The shop I got it from told me their decals stick to textured walls, but as we would soon find out, that wasn't the case. In the midst of me throwing a fit, Sammy told me he would sand the wall and we would paint it a flat color because he said that the glossy paint on the wall wasn't helping much either.

It took a good week for Sammy to sand the wall, then put this putty crap on the walls and then sand it all down again, prime, and paint. He did the brunt of the work, but I did paint the closet. :) Finally just a few days before our Halloween party we were able to put the decal up! Ohhh my, does it look AMAZING in Molly's room! The end result was definitely worth all the trouble....but really, I know Sammy could have done without all the extra work, lol!

When I ordered the decal, I was able to pick the color of the trunk and pick out two colors for the leafs. If I had known we were going to sand and then repaint her one wall, I would have picked yellow and red for the leafs to look like Fall time. But as it was her walls are orange and I wanted it to stand out. Ahh well, I love the blue and the green and so does little Mols.

This decal will go a long way in tying in the theme of her room which is slowly, but surely becoming a nature room. This winter Molly's crib will be turned into a toddler bed and for Christmas she gets her new bedding. I LOVE IT! It's from Pottery Barn Kids and it's gorgeous! I love the little birds, trees, and owls on the sheets and quilt.

Photobucket

I made Molly a little jewelry holder thing using a plank of wood, clothes line clips, and hot glue. I hand painted it to match her bedding. I also got her a set of round mirrors and hot glued gems I got at Walmart around the edges to match her bedding.

I went on Etsy.com again and was able to score this awesome hair clip holder! Can you believe someone actually hand painted this? Makes my little painting I did on her jewelry holder look like child's work! lol

Photobucket

Remember that tutu I got for Molly a while back and used to do that photo shoot of her shortly before she turned 1? Well I took the tutu and Sammy used a metal clothes hanger and fandangled  a way to hang it from a hook on her ceiling.

Photobucket

My Mom is getting Molly a dark brown bean bag chair that I will put at the end of her bed and at the base of the tree. Other than some other odds and ends like shelving and curtains to hang for her closet door, I feel like her room will mostly be complete!

Hauck Fall Family Photos 2010

The first few photos were taken in my yard and the one of Sam and I, Anthony actually took. How sweet is that? He was begging me to let him take a photo so I stood him on a chair in front of the tripod and camera, showed him where the button was and let him snap a few. Will he have a love for photography like his Mama?

The next batch was taken at my favorite fall spot on the road Sammy takes to work everyday; Rock Creek Rd in Klickitat County, WA. The trees and all the leafs on the ground made for a beautiful scene. I could have stayed there and let the kids play all day.....watching them makes my heart swell.
