Weekend Getaway

We enjoyed our stay at Sammy's Godmother's place, though the visits are never as relaxing and stress free as before we had the kids. At any given time one of the kids was crying or they are fighting with each other. Welcome to the vacation of a parent, right!? hehehe Regardless, everyone had a great time. We had a fire down by the creek and Anthony helped start it and tend to it. That was exciting! He had so much fun and it was hilarious watching Mike turn his back and there goes Anthony throwing more leaves or twigs in. Molly was a sick little cuddle bug on her Papa's lap after wanting off of my lap, haha. Friday and Saturday Sam and I were able to leave Anthony for a few hours and just take Molly to a few stores with us. At night when the kids were put to bed Sammy and I slipped off to the hot tub to soak and stare up at the stars. It was so cold out we didn't want to ever get out.

We headed home on Sunday and decided to take a different, longer way home so we could go to Cabelas. If we had known the stress that layed ahead, I'm sure we would have chosen differently! Anthony flipped out when we went to the toy section and then left it without a toy in hand. He had a complete meltdown that had the whole dang store rubbernecking. Molly wouldn't have been happy even if I had presented her with a pony and a lifetime supply of chocolate. We rushed through the store and were completely unsatisfied with our first Cabelas experience (though we did manage to buy a Wii game and gun for Cabela's Big Game Hunt, yay!). Shortly after getting back on the road we were almost sideswiped my a car and promptly after I told Sam, "Please don't let us die today, I don't want my last memory to be wanting to strangle my children at Cabelas!" I looked back to see Anthony and Molly asleep in their seats looking sweet as pie. Sammy and I scarfed down gummy bears while I played DJ with our CD's and we were able to relax a bit. *sigh* My silly kiddos, how boring would my life be without them? The sweet joys of Mamahood.

With love,
Mama Hauck

  1. Fleas freak me out too. I have them. Do you guys get a lot of ticks there? I hate them too. My dog had lymes last year, we have so many ticks. (or is it tics?) either way they suck.

Sounds like you had a really nice time this past weekend. I love fires and just chilling with the family.

We are doing our annual pumpkin patch, corn maze and apple orchard on Saturday. It's supposed to be 60 so I hope it actually stays nice out. Last year it was soooo cold.

Have a great (but busy) week! A birthday party, poker party and halloween party all in the same week...oh my! ENJOY! :)

  2. Oh my gosh I totally need to start proofreading my posts, I put I have them, as in I have fleas, what kind of a freaking human has fleas....I meant to say I HATE them. I do not have fleas, I promise!! LOL

  3. HAHAHAHA! Too funny. I'd be really sad if you had fleas. I wouldn't be able to hang out with you if given the chance! It's also funny that I seriously just sent you an e-mail! Now how do you like that....I'm writing to you as you're writing to me! :) Busy week for me for sure! Hope the weather stays nice for you guys this weekend! Sounds like fun!

I know there are ticks out here, but I don't know if we have tons of them. Before we gave Scooter away to the Chihuahua rescue lady, he got a tick on his head. :( Before that though I hadn't seen nor come in contact with any in my entire life.

On the other hand I've been told by many people out by me (like my neighbor) that we don't have them here. I don't know what she means by "here" though. Like on my road? In Goldendale? In all of Klickitat county? LOL! In any case, I don't know if that's true or not. All I know is our dogs have never gotten fleas and we don't do anything to prevent them either. But I'm paranoid now that I've been somewhere with fleas and I'm crossing my fingers I didn't bring them back to my house!!! Mice and fleas. Exactly what I freaken need!!

  5. Ouch! Flea bites look like they really hurt. Could you be having some kind of allergic reaction?

  6. I just got a flea bite recently too! On my belly and I have NO idea how! I hate them!!

Not as much as I HATE mice. You are a brave brave BRAVE woman, much braver than me for even trying to attempt to get the mouse out and beat him. I would have probably cried, called my husband, and made him deal with it when he got home. Although, lately we've been catching a few and hubby hasn't been home so I've been forced to take them off the traps (but dead!) and reset them myself, and that's hard enough for me!!

Anyway, I'm right there with you. I'll take any day without a flea or mouse.

Ain't the kids so sweet when they're sleeping. Makes you love them more :) I have those Cabela's moments often! Glad you had a good trip otherwise!

  7. All this flea bashing puts a smile on my face. hehehehe

My flea bites have always been outrageous looking. The picture wasn't even taken when the bites were at their worst! I got those bites first, Thursday night. Friday and Saturday they looked AWFUL. My other bites were bad, but these ones were the worst. I always wondered if I was having some sort of reaction, but I'm unsure if that's possible with flea bites. Who knows!

AWWW! Mandy! I'm so sorry you're having mouse issues too!!!! Glad to hear your traps are working correctly though! LOL I have a feeling things are only going to be getting worse since it's getting colder now. :( Not a flea bite on your cute pregnant belly!? Sucks!

  8. Haha! Yes, a flea bite on the pregnant belly, how awful! I was looking at it and thinking of how my OB appointment is next week .. is that sad? I'm hoping it's gone! I don't want my doctor thinking I'm a nasty person with flea bites, lol! But, apparently it just happens!!
